Does anyone really believe they could simply choose to shoot down a commercial airline with scores of passengers on board? Is that your solution? Seriously? Would that have saved lives? Where do you shoot it down? Maybe more people would have died depending on where the plane hit. I can only imagine the outcry from people who would have argued maybe somebody on board will take over and all the lives will be saved.

The first one could have been an accident, but after the second one hitting the second tower how do you not even bother the third one as it was approaching D.C???
The military sometimes have to make tough calls. How do you at least not intercept them? There was plenty of time to do just that with the third one

But that plane was in rural PA. Location, location, location, there may have been no lives saved if the plane was shot down in a densely populated area. Hitting a DC landmark may have been the best option
