I like Hoss myself. I live here in Costa Rica and my cable gets the TMC channel which shows old Bonanza episodes two days a week. I watch them a lot unless there is something like Monday Night Football also on.

I Tivo movies off TMC and another channel related to Cinemax that I get. Unfortunately the bandwidth is limited so I have to be picky as to what old flicks I keep. Right now I have saved the following:

Casablanca
The Maltese Falcon
Chinatown
The Odessa File
The Man who shot Liberty Valance (I like old westerns)
The Sting
Grapes of Wrath
Absence of Malice
To Have and Have Not (Bogart)
Color of Money (Paul Newman won an Oscar)
12 Angry Men (The Henry Fonda version)
Key Largo (I am a big Bogart fan)

Last night I watched Jimmy Stewart in The Man From Laramie but didn't record.
I try to watch Combat, Bonanza, and once in a while Magnum PI for a laugh, and occasionally Crime Story. Charlie Angels and Fantasy Island also run weekly but i can't handle them, way to cornball..

I just deleted the Super Bowl the other day for room to record the Oscars tonight. I won't keep that long but may watch it again because I am a big favorite to fall asleep tonite (was up at 3AM this morning).

The great thing about the old movies like Casablanca or The Maltese Falcon is I can use them to fall asleep in minutes or if I am really not tired and want to watch a great movie they are good for that to.

The "Odessa File", that & "Eye Of The Needle", my 2 favs of that genre. Voight was great in that & "Coming Home", bunch of bad pics since tho. Kate Nelligan In "Eye", one of the great all time BOOB shots, she was gorgeous then.:103631605

I miss both The Wire (never had a total favorite character from that show because I think they wrote it that way, plenty of cops to dislike and some bad guys that you could like such as Omar, I guess if I had to choose a favorite I would choose Bunk the laid back good police murder defective). and The Sopranos.

I have one of the Sopranos season box sets but the show doesn't hold up once you have seen it like say The Godfather Trilogy does. I have that box set also and can do a Godfather marathon about once a year.

Silver -- Eye of the Needle was excellent and Kate Nelligan was seriously hot. even Donald Sutherland who I can take or leave was good. Great movie. When you stand back and look Sutherland has had an incredible career.

I wish I could get The Dogs of War, written by Frederick Forsythe who also wrote The Odessa File and The Day of the Jackal among others. But so far no luck..Not the greatest movie ever filmed but I love the genre of mercenaries getting a team together and pulling a caper. In Dogs they take over a small African country and depose a psychotic dictator etc etc.

BTW. I liked Voight in a minor role of the fixer in the DiNiro vs Pacino (cop) flick "Heat". He was perfect as the middleman who set up scores for DiNiro's crew. Unfortunately the bank robbery shoot out went way over the top and I hate it when the bad guy gets killed in the end in those type of flicks. DiNiro was as good of a criminal as you will ever see. Taking care of his crew to the max.

Great question!

My favorite top 5 TV characters in no particular order:

1. Richard Kimble - THE FUGITIVE

2. James Rockford - THE ROCKFORD FILES

3. Shemp Howard - THE THREE STOOGES

4. Fred Sanford - SANFORD & SON

5. Sonny Crockett - MIAMI VICE

Now, if I were to include one of the sexiest female TV stars I have enjoyed watching, it would be this one. The sries was short lived, but she was SUPER HOT!

Max Guevara - DARK ANGEL

You can tell by my submissions of what I think of today's television.

:lolBIG:

I was raised in Miami, Florida so perhaps I'm biased. I was in the city as the show hit the airwaves. Usually, "art imitates life," but in this case the city of Miami imitated Miami Vice. I kid you not. The city literally transformed itself. South Beach exploded into what it is today. Before the show, it was a wasteland.

It was a trend setting show in that it combined action/drama with the most awesome tunes. I used to make sure I'd never miss a Friday night episode before going out to the clubs.

Come on, what there's not to like about good ole Sonny!?!?! He was the epitome of "cool" in the '80s!

I mean, he even had a pet alligator named Elvis! :lolBIG:

Incubus

I know the show was a huge hit and Italian sport coats, non white T-shirts, white linen pants, and slip-on (sockless) loafers flew off the shelves everywhere. 5 O'clock shadows became mandatory clubing facial looks.

Don Johnson as Sonny Crockett in full regalia starring in the show Miami Vice.

You have a perfect right to pick him as a favorite. In a way the popular today Dr. Gregory House (Brit Hugh Laurie) is a modern day Sonny Crockett only he wields a stethoscope instead of a stainless steel 9MM Glock to get the bad guy with...

Homer Simpson – Evolving from dumb oaf to simple-minded yet devoted family man, Homer Simpson is a television character loved by millions. In the longest running prime time sitcom in TV history, Homer J Simpson has become a character people won’t soon forget. Following in the footsteps of Archie Bunker, Homer is a blue-collar, working class man just trying to get by. The thing that makes Homer so different is that he is so intelligently stupid. As his everyday intelligence seems to decline every season, he also appears to have a certain wisdom, difficult to argue with. This is evident in the hundreds of Homerisms repeated by fans all over the world. “Ah, beer. The cause of and the solution to all of life’s problems,” and “Facts are meaningless – you could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely true!” Homer Simpson has won numerous awards from Teen Choice Awards to Emmy Awards. Homer is everyman, he is simple yet complex, he is someone we all know, and he is a character we will never forget.

IMO Hawkeye Pierce is way overrated. The last 2-3 years of that show he nearly ruined it. He had to become the emotional voice for the series.

Trapper John was better.
