I think the show is still creative and entertaining and to pick up on the comedy, whether obvious or implied, you have to see beyond the images and legends of the SNL's of the past and focus on what the new actors are trying to convey. Once you see where they are coming from especially with modern politics and current events which are usually the basis for the skits, the snide and sometimes off color humor we have all come to expect from the show still flurishes. The viewer sometimes has to put any past expectations they may have had of the newer actors being able to live up to the high standards the previous group set because these shoes might ivery well be to big to fill. However once you come to realize that probably no one will every replace a Chris Farley or a John Belushi from a natural talent standpoint, you become more open to accepting the newer breed of actors, what they can accomplish, and the talent they do indeed bring to the table.

http://scoop.today.com/_news/2011/06/14/6856345-is-ben-jerrys-planning-a-schweddy-balls-ice-cream

There is a new, potentially amazing/horrifying Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor on the horizon: A "Schweddy Balls"-themed flavor pegged to the classic "Saturday Night Live" skit starring Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon and Alec Baldwin (who played Pete "Schweddy Balls" Schweddy in the below sketch).

The rumor comes via Gothamist, who caught Gasteyer dropping the gem about the "Schweddy Balls" sketch during an interview with New York 1: "It has this crazy, massive popularity that’s kind of had a half life since I left the show. Ben & Jerry's is coming out with a Schweddy Balls ice cream for Christmas this year."

Whoa! Bowery Boogie says the flavor will arrive sometime in September and run through Christmas, but a Ben & Jerry's rep who spoke to Gothamist would neither confirm nor deny the move, explaining "we like all of our new flavors to have an element of surprise."

Gilda Radner as Author Emily Litella

What's all this fuss I've been hearing about conserving our natural racehorses ? (resources)
What's all this talk I hear about violins on television? (violence)
What's all this fuss I've been hearing about eagle rights amendment ? (equal)
What's all this fuss I've been hearing about the presidential erection? (election)

Those were great,. but by far and away the best scene was ...

What's all this talk about endangered feces ? (species) That skit was the funniest one ever on SNL.

Im not a big fan of Adam Sandler movies at all...but I thought some of the skits he was in on SNL at the time were some of the best ever..and his stand up back in the day at the Improv and such were very original and underrated

yeah, she ranks right there with Gilda Radner, Jan Hooks, Jane Curtin and Molly Shannon....but willing to bet , not near as many know who she is...

Jan Hooks is another, who was great, but some may not know....she was awesome in the Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman era...

RIP

Jan Hooks, whose Hillary Clinton and Tammy Faye Bakker were hallmarks of Saturday Night Live in the late '80s, has died. She was 57.Hooks's agency confirmed that the comedian died early Thursday of an undisclosed cause.
During her five-year SNL stint, Hooks was part of an ensemble that included Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, Chris Farley, Dennis Miller, and her fellow Sweeney Sister, Nora Dunn.
A reliable supporting sketch comic, Hooks was best known for her spot-on impressions of mascara-melting Bakker, Clinton, Bette Davis, and Sinéad O'Connor during her 1986-91 run on the late-night comedy show. Her character Brenda the waitress later became a template for her guest role on 30 Rock, playing the gold-digging Verna Maloney, mother to Jane Krakowski's Jenna.
Hooks also appeared in a handful of films, including Tim Burton's Batman Returns and, most notably, Pee-wee's Big Adventure. She delivered one of the movie's catchphrases: "There's no basement in the Alamo!"
Following her run on SNL, Hooks co-starred on Designing Women, and did recurring work on 3rd Rock From the Sun. Her last credited on-screen work was on 30 Rock.
She also had a recurring role on The Simpsons, voicing the ever-patient Manjula Nahasapeemapetilon, who puts up with her husband Apu's long hours at the Kwik-E-Mart despite having octuplets to take care of.
Twitter was full of remembrances and best wishes from her fans. Many singled out their favorite performances and characters. Several of her peers, however, kept it simple.

[h=4]Chevy Chase kicked by young driver in road rage incident[/h] 22-year-old man says he kicked Chevy Chase in self-defense after incident on upstate New York highway.

A Long Island man said he kicked Chevy Chase in self-defense on an upstate highway when the unhinged actor lunged at him and warned, “I am going to ruin your lives!”
Michael Landrio, 22, a UPS worker from East Patchogue, told The Post that he and his girlfriend and another couple were headed north to go snowmobiling Feb. 9 when a blue Mercedes flashed its lights at them and pulled next to them at the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
“We were in the right lane and as we came up to the bridge we went to the middle lane,” he said in his parents’ home in Suffolk County. “It was an old guy yelling – something we couldn’t hear – super pissed-off. … We just tried to get the heck away from him. He followed us the whole length of the bridge, driving crazy.”
Landrio said the pursuing driver weaved in and out of traffic until they pulled over in South Nyack in Rockland County after crossing the span.
“My friend opened his window and just said, ‘I apologize, we were just trying to go upstate,’” he said, adding that the Mercedes blocked their vehicle.
“You know who the f— I am?” Landrio said Chase screamed. “Then he started cursing at me for no reason and said, ‘I am going to ruin your lives!’ I said, ‘F— you!’
Then he yanks open their car door and yells, ‘I’m going to punch you in the nose’ and he came after me and had his hands in my face,” he continued. “I said, ‘Get the f— away from me!’”
Landrio said Chase — who at this point was inside Landrio’s car attacking him — threw a punch that missed. Landrio said he then kicked the out-of-control Chase, sending him flying out of the car, into his Mercedes and onto the ground.
“I closed my car door and locked it but he was still trying to get in at me when a nurse and an off-duty cop escorted him away,” Landrio said.
“I didn’t know who he was — I was just trying to defend myself. He was physically trying to harm me,” he said, adding that the cop told him his attacker was none other than Chevy Chase of “Saturday Night Live” and “Caddyshack” fame.
“I looked him up on Google and I still didn’t know who he was,” he said. “He didn’t look like he looked when he made his movies.”
Landrio, who wants to pursue a career in law enforcement, noted that Chase stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds, while he is just 5-foot-11 and weighs 155 pounds.
The suspect was slapped with a count of second-degree harassment.
