I have no use for WSEX, I'm more concerned about Matchbook, with "similar" ownership.

They can pay quickly if they want to.

Today I received a cheque by Fedex, despatched on the 16th Feb from Antigua.

However I requested USD 5,000 yet this cheque is for 6,238.85 Canadian Dollars.

This is going to cost me more money to pay in, and I'm not sure it is even equivalent. WTF?

I think it's crazy they ignored your wishes and paid you in Canadian $s.

They paid you at a rate of 1.2477; which is a fair rate for Feb 16 (I can access historical currency quotes). However, today the rate is 1.265 - so when you go to cash it, you will end up with ~ 4931.62 US$, before any banking fees. That kind of sucks that you had to take that kind of currency fluctuation risk when you requested USD.

Why is the Canadian dollar so bad against the USD now ?

Not long ago, it was worth more.

James I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything but you live in London. I've never been there but heard the city has a book on every street. Also online gambling is legal in England. You could be playing at Betfair and saving gobs of money on juice.

Why in the world would you play at a book that caters to people from the USA?

Let me clarify that I have played at WSEX for many years and never once had a problem with anything. Cashing out was always a breeze, but then again I always paid the extra for courier. I would trust them with a good bit of money and probably will again come baseball season.

I'm not bashing WSEX, just asking why you don't play at your local book?

we cant produce oil when prices are at these levels. extraction from tar sands cost more than the oil itself

Makes some sense, I didn't consider Canada's reliance on oil exportation ( to the US),still I'd think you guys should be closer dollar to dollar to US. Canada is still rich with natural resources, looks better long-term than USA, IMO.

Timber is probably way down, with lack of need for construction, too, and you probably need to import US grains, since you lack an Iowa type province ( mid-west farmland).

Tourism from the USA must be down, also.

Canada is tied to the US, in many ways. We will certainly be on the same side when WW3 ( the really big one), starts in ? (2017 ?)

No we don't .... Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta ... Canada is actually a fairly large exporter of grain.

But, getting back to the point, when I request a bank draft for $5,000 why do you think any book would think it acceptable to send me less than that amount's worth in Candadian dollars?
