That seems to be a list of pitchers that were great/good that now suck. So Tim Redding? I'm sorry, but that guy was never that good. Doesn't belong there. Give Zito more time, he's been great in his past two starts. Maddux isn't a hasbeen, he's a 40-year-old pitcher who's one of the greatest ever, who is just pitching a little past his prime. Can't call him a hasbeen; call him a hall of famer. Oliver Perez had one good year, but I still wanna see more of him. Either he'll get out of his funk or be a scrub, but you can't call him a hasbeen when he's only been good for one year.

As for Schmidt, he had a rought start today, no doubt, but he was pitching well before that. Give him the entire year, at least. The guy's only one of the winningest pitchers of the past few years, and most dominant. So I think he deserves more than an injury-plagued 2004 and one rough outing against a Nats team that has recorded 10 or more hits in their fifth straight game.

Just my opinion, though.

opinion appreciated and it made a lot of sense skins. barry zito has been awful laker he did pitch pretty well against the yankees last time out but oakland is a horrible team and I dont look for much from them this year.

Agreed. I look for Zito to bounce back and have a solid year and career. I refuse to believe that someone that good just loses their stuff, especially since he's so young. By that same token, I look for Perez to eventually bounce back as well. These two should be good pitchers for years. They've had a taste of success(in Zito's case, more than a taste); I don't think they'll be satisfied with mediocrity now.

As for Wood, I feel for the guy. I'm worried his career could be over before it ever really gets started. His best years were ahead of him, to think that they're now behind him is a sad prospect. I hope he gets healthy and returns to that 20 K form he once had. Even if I don't particularly like the Cubs.
