You don't think if they meet the requirements they should be allowed to try?
no...bc they cant meet them, but even if they did, so now you have 1 woman in a 30 man Infantry platoon.....whats the sense of that?? just to prove a point? its never going to be where you find that many women capable of meeting the standards
How do you know that standards won't be lowered? They are lowered for Police and Fire. That was written up in our local paper. They had to lower them, or no women would qualify. How do you know they won't be lowered for the military? But the standards will not be lowered and quite frankly women don't want them to be. They just want the opportunity to apply. When a woman walks into a recruiting office and is told a certain job is off limits to her that's kind of bullshit. If everything is open then they can at least apply.

When you speak of a woman in a fighter plane and say it is essentially comparable to women fighting at close range and in hand-to-hand combat, you make it plain for all to see that you are deliberately missing the point. What's the difference from being in a combat unit and not being in a combat unit but getting shot at and returning fire during routine convoy operations? I'd consider fighter pilots as being in a combat unit and plenty of women fly combat aircraft and actually command units and wings. There are no problems.

Finally. The "bleeding thing" is brought up. I was afraid to say anything because it's not PC. I'd sure hate to see any unhygenic bleeding on the battlefield.
LOL. There are many women who have more balls than many men. Not to mention some are way smarter. If you are afraid she wont be able to pull the trigger you have not been with many women, there are many cold heart bitches out there who dont mind causing some pain.
I have changed my stance.
Gmen knows a lot more about this then me. If he thinks its a bad idea I think it's a bad idea. Who are we to question someone who has actually been there and done that? There are many things in life that may look good on the drawing board to the uninformed. But when put in practice you find it has many holes in the real world.
Has Gmen been to Iraq or Afghanistan? Maybe he has but I'm asking because I don't know.
I have been to Afghanistan two times and I disagree with him. We are fighting irregular wars now and the typical infantry approach to fighting hasn't been used since the first Gulf War. Women are out on the front lines right as we speak pulling the trigger but you guys just don't read about it. There are no issues in the units I've been in.
