i hate tipping but always do. i usually stop going to certain gas stations or dunkin donuts because i sometimes just don't feel like tipping them. so i go somewhere thats new to me and not used to be telling them "keep it" when they hand me back a buck or two

but as far as your questions goes. if you feel like you're getting a good deal then tip em. last night i went out to eat with 4 other family members and the bill was only 76$. felt like that was a great deal and gave 100. if the bill was 85$ she was probably still getting 100.

It's completely out of control. Counter worker at Jimmy John's has a tip jar out and shit.

Restaurants need to fix the BOH/FOH issue. You got cooks and dishwashers working 100x harder than any server, taking home $60 in an 8 hour shift vs $250 in 6 hours.

Instead of paying a server $3/hr + tips and a cook 12 flat, pay the server 9 and the cook 6 and each server should split tips 50/50 with a BOH pool. Servers still incentivized to provide good service, although to a lesser extent. BOH is now incentivized to get food out fast though, and contribute to the overall guest experience.

It's a better model.

If it's a woman and she's hot -- you tip.

If it's a man and you're from California -- you tip and then have a great conversation about modern day tranny rights

In high school I worked in both the kitchen and as a server. Being a server 1000× harder.

I still tell people to this day, waiting tables was the hardest job I ever had. People treat you like pure scum. And it's 8 to 10 hours running around on your feet all day long. If you work at a busy restaurant most of the time you are juggling pure chaos with way too many tables.

I always tip waiters well because I know how miserable that job is.

When I worked in the kitchen all we did was fuck around. It was pretty fun actually. Def not hard work.

Meh, depends. Did you ever wait on illiterate gang bangers or the girlfriend hoes of gang bangers? Hard to keep a face with such savages.

Have you ever served before? It can be a lot if work. If you're making $250 a night serving you are busting your ass

You did not wait tables at a real restaurant in high school. Unless you were in high school at age 19, which with YOU, is definitely possible.

Yep. Know who else was busting their ass? The dude on the line making $12.50

Know who else is gonna bust their ass? The dishwasher who stays TWO HOURS after you leave to wash your dishes for a grand total of about 20 bucks.

Like I said, the kitchen work was easy. Actually fun. Mostly just fucking around with buddies.

Staying two hours after to wash dishes? Lmao. You've never really worked at a restaurant if you think that much time and care is being put into cleaning the dishes.

The movie "Waiting" is pretty much 100% true to life as to what goes on at a restaurant.

i tip ppl who cut my hair

i don't really tip at places like starbucks but i do at local joints that i like even when i'm just picking up food
i tip because i'm a frequent customer and they give a good product
i also tip b/c im not poor as fuck to complain about a couple of bucks for a service or product. i understand where i come from and i know a couple of extra bucks to them means a whole lot more than it does to me.
