sure put me down.

Did you hear his comments afterwards? He claims that he's playing versus more than the field. Forget the rest of the tour, he's up against some mental demons as well

Not mental demons. He thought there were ghosts on the course, that's who he was up against.

Maybe he watched the Sixth Sense on Saturday night and now he sees dead people.

No, I didn't see the post-tourney press conference, other than what Skip Bayliss said about it today on Cold Pizza, errr, First Take....and I wouldn't trust a word from that guy.

I lied just a bit when I implied that I wasn't a homer, actually, I am. But my home is the USA so I routinely root for any and all Americans to win majors and Ryder/President cups. I've never really had any feelings for or against SG, but if GooGooBird and Mr. Smith dislike him, (and I'm sure raiderhater does too), then he's now my new favorite.

I am sure the people bashing Sergio and saying he will never win a major were saying the same thing about Phil Mickelson a few years back. Bottom line is Sergio hits it better than 98% of the players on tour. If he becomes a decent putter with this belly putter there is no doubt he will win a major one day.

Geez Doug, no reason to make a discussion about Sergio so personal. Your wrong about Phil as have always been a big supporter of his and by all indications he is a really decent person which Sergio is not. Phil has always been easy to root for whereas most people seem to dislike Garcia.

Obviously Sergio has most of the talent required to win but golf has a very large mental aspect to it. IGO there is nothing more mental in sports then trying to putt a golf ball in a little round hole with something on the line. To be honest its hard to say he will never win one but if he cannot become a consistent putter he will never win one. With no putting consistency and confidence he would have to be running away from the field going into Sunday to win. And he basically was this Sunday and we know how that turned out. With Stricker basically throwing up beside him he really should have been able to handle that pressure to shoot a 72. Its not like his playing partner was lighting it up.

Sergio should have won and did not...he will have plenty of chances down the line, but until he gets that killer attitude and makes improvements with his putter, he is in for a long dry spell in the Majors....
