It was a fun game to watch as it ends 100-90. Probably the highest scoring game of the tournament so far. It's nice to play an over and have it win easily and not have to worry about overtime if playing an under.

However, I will be looking for some unders in the WNBA the next few days as the season unwinds and the teams rest players.

Serbia vs. Russia
#1603/1604
2pm eastern Thursday

over 140.5

This game is set for 2pm eastern on Thursday as part of the quarterfinals at Eurobasket 2011 in Lithuania. Russia is coached by American David Blatt, who played at Princeton under Pete Carrill. He now coaches Maccaba Tel Aviv. The Russians like to play good defense and are led by Utah Jazz forward Andre Kirilenko, who averages 14 ppg. NBA cneter Timothy Mozgov also plays for them and he puts in 9 ppg. Fridzon and Shved also average in the 10 point range.

Serbia is a high scoring team and won a recent play for us with Lithuania by going over last week. These two played a 147 point game back in the 2009 Eurobasket, where Serbia took second place. Serbia is led by Krstic as 16 ppg, Savanovic 15 and Teodosic 12. The Serbs average 79% from the FT line and shoot many 3's.

Serbia's lowest scroing game was 135 vs. Turkey and 139 vs. Germany. The others were 148, 169, 169, 160 (before TO), 190 and 143.

Russia did play a 166 point game vs. Bulgaria and 150 with Greece but the others were 137, 123, 137, 129, 139 and 124. Russia did not face high scoring teams like Lithuania, Spain or Israel.

It is the knockout round of the playoffs so the teams will give it their all. Hopefully, each team can make some 3's and we get late FT's leading to an over. This game will be on espn3.com on Thursday afternoon.

Bahrain vs. China
2011 FIBA Asia
#2159/2160
Thursday 8am eastern

over 146

This game is one of the last games of Day 1 at the 2011 FIBA Asia being played in China. There are 16 teams there and the winner goes to the 2012 Olympics. China and Iran are the favorites while Bahrain will battle Malaysia to stay out of last place.

I am hoping to see China play well in front of the home crowd and provide most of the points as they are favored by 40 points. China beat India in Game One of the 2009 tourney by 121-49 (170 points). In Game One of the 2009 Gulf Coast they won 80-70 (150) and in the first game of last year's 2010 FIBA Championship they played an 89-81 game (170 points).

Bahrain has an American coach and hasn't prepared well for this tourney. They beat an Army team as a warmup. They have just 6 of 12 players with intl. experience and are young. They did play a 162 point game with Oman and 156 with UAE in the Gulf Coast tourney where scores are available.

I hope we see China score inside and out and for the Bahrain team to score some in a fast paced game. China reached 170, 130 and 153 in the first round games back in 2009. This team is not as strong as that one but I think we have a solid chance for an over. I have seen 145.5 and 146 as the total.

China wins 101-49 for a total of 150 points.

Bahrain should be called Bad-brain as they scored 20+ in the 1st and 3rd quarters and only 4 in the others.
At least they scored enough to get it over.

Nice crowd for this game with China hosting. I watched an earlier game and it seemed like there were about 100 people there.

Philippines vs. China
8am eastern Friday
FIBA Asia

over 148

China and The Philippines won easily yesterday as they scored 101 and 92 points, respectively. China is led by Jianjian Yi and Z. Wang while the underdog gets points from Taulava, Kelly Williams, Jimmy Alapeg and Douthit.

Let's look at the last 11 meetings. All 11 have gone reached 153 points even though most were played well in the past.

2007 FIBA Asia Championship for Men 74-79 loss
2007 FIBA Asia Championship for Men 76-78 loss
1997 Asian Championship for Men 107-72 win
1991 Asian Championship for Men 107-79 win
1989 Asian Championship for Men 118-73 win
1987 Asian Championship for Men 97-94 win
1986 Asian Championship for Men 72-82 loss
1981 Asian Championship for Men 97-66 win
1979 Asian Championship for Men 124-89 win
1977 Asian Championship for Men 117-60 win
1975 Asian Championship for Men 105-85 win

In 2009, the Philippines scored 147, 166, 156, 151, 148 and 162 points in the last 6 games, which were against decent teams.

The game is being played in China so there will be a nice crowd there to provide energy. Hopefully, both teams can make some 3's, get some fast break points and some free throws to help with the over.
