It's been like that even Before I got here... You know what ?? There use to be POST UP Contest here too.
That's where you put up $100-$300 and it goes into a pot.
If you don't finish in the Top whatever, You Lose your Money.
Now we have Contest where you just Deposit $100 or more to get Full Prizes, and $100+ is Your to Keep and Gamble with.
But this is by choice... if you Don't want to deposit, you play for 10-25% of the Prizes. It doesn't cost you a Cent !
Nobody is forcing Anyone to play in the FREE contests. If the 10-25% of prizes isn't good enough.. People don't have to play.

Im sure the mods here hate me by now with my know it all attitude.
I hope I dont come off as a prick when giving my advice.
Only reason I give my opinion is because I would really like to see therx get back to its old ways.
I have tried all the other forums and never quite could get into them for some reason.
So here I go again with my advice. Most of this I have posted before in other threads.
I really do feel like I have a good idea how these places work and what makes them tick.
I have always been interested in marketing. Although my job has nothing to do with marketing, I did major in marketing.
Contest would help some but its not the be all end all.
Therx was not the king of forumland from 03 to 07 because they had a few skybook or betjam contest from week to week.
Did those contest contribute to therx success? Absolutely it did. But it is not the reason that this place was number 1.
What this place has to have is quality paid posters. (and no I am not campaigning for a paid posting spot.) I have absolutely no desire to have a position like that even if I was asked and offered good money.
So this makes my opinion unbiased. I have no agenda other then wanting to see this place get back to where it was before.
I think a quality poster generates an average of 5 post for every post that the quality poster post.
So if a quality poster makes 500 post in a week I believe this will generated around 2500 post total.
If you have about 5 quality posters making 500 post a week we are talking about 12500 post per week generated by 5 people.
Therx has some really good mods they do a good job of keeping the place run smoothly.
But they only have 1 mod that I consider to be a star topic starter.
They need about 4 more.
Im happy that the mod team seems to have opened up a lot in the last few months.
They have pretty much allowed all conversation with very little editing.
Only thing they have left to do is un ban most of the posters that are banned and things will get on track.
You hire those 4 star posters.
You unbann some of the past posters
All the other things like contest will follow suit.
If this place is thriving and alive Hache man wont have to beg sportsbooks to sponsor contest.
They will be lining up at the door begging to offer contest.

Thats why I used the term paid posters.
Mods and paid posters are 2 different things. Journeyman may have been a mod in name, but he was basically a paid poster.
This place is loaded with mods.
They do a good job.
But I dont understand why you feel like BAS should be the only mod to create threads.
And I do agree the posters need to start threads, but you need a paid kick starter to get those posters to do that.
Most of those posters you are talking about are banned or on post review.
