Do us all a favor and drop the racism crap. First off, lots of guys got "passes", black guys in fact. As already mentioned, Merriman in football, Sosa, shit Bonds broke a BLACK man's record for crying out loud.

While you're right that it has nothing to do with racism (Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmeiro certainly didn't get a pass), it has nothing to do with Barry Bonds being a prick either. It only has to do with evidence and creditable, first hand allegations. They exist against Bonds, and not against Clemens.

2 no-hitters and at or near the top in strikeouts in the a.l.
perhaps the water in southeast texas where nolan and roger grew up had something in it thats performance enhancing.lots of other good arms from that area.

I bet half of baseball is still doing something. That's why I can't consider these guys athletes. You just look at guys like David Wells who are an embarrassment to the game and you call that an athlete? If these guys were legit they would be in basketball or football.

I'd like to know why Cal Ripken gets a pass. The guy played in 2632 straight games. Nolan Ryan is suspect too, for sure.

I used to drink beer and eat hot dogs with Wells...he is NOT an embarrasment to the game...he actually had an above average compared to most pitchers...:toast:

How can anybody defend Bonds...... 1st look at his size.... he went from 200 to 245 .. He also admited to a grand jury he took steroids... imagine Mcgwire going after hank's record... he would go through the same thing... Clemens, Arod, Pujos or anybody else has never admited to taking steriods.... Case closed.... DAMN HE ADMITED TO TAKING STERIODS.. Whether he knew or not he took them... :ughhh: how hard is that to get for anybody who defends him... :discuss:

I do not like Clemens but I do not see it. He was 24-4 right here in 86. So he was always a great talent and at Texas too. He was always big framed. Where was it stated that he did roids? I am not saying he didn't do it...I am just asking where this came from.

This is what I was wondering. People were acting like he was implicated and I was not sure. I do not think he was and I do not like him and have followed him his entire career. But of course would not be surprised at all. he is pitching this age because he is a great talent and work out freak. In Boston the young pitchers could not do his workouts (running hills)...he is a hard worker.

Jerry Rice is the greatest workout warrior I have ever seen and he fell apart at the end, but Clemens at 44 is now CY Young.

MJ was the same way and was a shell of himself at the end in WAS

Great calls but many people turned their head to Clemens. AT least two people in this thread got it right.

Actually Clemens may have been cheating his whole career. Suspected now that the one year he didn't cheat he had an ERA of 4.6.

Guy wouldn't have even been an all time great if it wasn't for Roids. At least Bonds was an all-time great before them

This is the only thread I bumped. What is Clemens your boyhood idol? I'm glad this scum got outed. He cheated for ever and always downed people who cheated. I could bump every thread but found this one the only necessary one because it was funny to read everyones excuses.

Bigten, you echo my thoughts 100%. I was just going to post something to this effect.

Bonds has been crucified for the past 3 years on this, but Clemens has been left alone even though his activities are just (if not more) as suspicious...... washed up at 33, then huge resurgence, sitting out first half of season to allow cycle to leave his system, etc.

I hate it as much as anybody when people cry racism at the drop of a hat, but it's definitely at work here.

To be quite honest, Clemens seems like just as big of an arrogant dickhead as Bonds. No hall of fame for him.

We all know why Clemens gets a Pass or at least used to....but he aint getting one this time....Now if this had come out in 98-99-2000....before Bonds ever came close to touching HR record....I wonder what would the media say?..........
