Why do I keep seeing people spell the words "night" and "doughnut" incorrectly?

They are both spelled correctly:
Donut is an alternative spelling used in America
nite is an informal spelling.

probably because DD made it into a word. language evolves over time. I hated to have to read that Shakespeare garbage in school.

Unaware of what year it was, Joe wandered the streets desperate for help. But the English language had deteriorated into a hybrid of hillbilly, valleygirl, inner-city slang and various grunts. Joe was able to understand them, but when he spoke in an ordinary voice he sounded pompous and faggy to them.

as far as misspelled words go, don't think there is a word spelled wrong more on the net than definitely, seems 80% of the time it is spelled definately

In real life (work documents, business presentations, school work etc...), no excuse.

Online or text messages, who cares.
