Sal

Jim Thome
Palmero
Derrick Lee
Jeff Bagwell (we are talking about the entire career
Delgado
Jason Giambi(entire career)
Frank Thomas

All of the above players has a chance to see the HOF when all is said and done.

Thats 8 better from beginning to end of careers.

Frank Thomas mabye.
Willie McCovey.

We are talking about active players. If you want to get into the alltime first baseman I can name at least 25.

Yo chop'...

I have a better chance at winning the Rx Poker Tourney...

then Raffy has at becoming a HOF'er.

Doesn't look too promising.

Chop- you gotta be kidding me!

This is an opinion question, no right or wrong...I disagree strongly...don't forget Mattingly played in a different era and did play a little defense?

Did you see Mattingly play?

The players you have listed were very one dimensional for the most part...with inflated numbers....I would take Mattingly over all them with the exception of MAYBE Frank Thomas....

Bagwell? WTF :icon_conf

I will agree longevity was not on Mattingly's side....I am usually siding with players who have great longevity...

Mattingly was an indredible hitter but, the longevity argument kills him...if we take entire career into consideration (as we should) its very arguable...

I am having a hard time factoring in the steroid situation and what that has done to inflate this generations stats

Thome will end his career with over 500 homers. Maybe more
Bagwell career numbers. 449 homers 1525 Rbi .297 career batting avg. 202 stolen bases. Most alltime by a first baseman. A few gold gloves. Whats 1 dimentional about that?

Palmero. 500 homers 3000 hits. Never broke a single rule in baseball till perhaps this season.

Delgado on pace for over 500 homers!!!! Not bad on defense either.

Pujois no comment needed.

Giambi, tremendous career average. Will hit at least 400 homers maybe 450 or more.

Frank Thomas. You already agree with this one.

Lots of Hawkeyes here, Yeah!!

Fishman--

Went to HS in Davenport, went to the U of Iowa for undergrad(83-87..chuck long, ronnie harmon, marv cook, etc, etc..), moved to NYC for two years, came back to I.C. for grad school, stayed in Iowa City until 1998 when we moved back to Davenport for my wifes job.

Any of you Hawkeye fans attend any games at Kinnick? I've had season tix for years--lets get together this fall and have a few cold ones to celebrate another Hawkeye win....:drink:
