I'll take Jeter over Cal...................Ripken famous for going to work 6 months out of the year LOL..........More impressed with Brett Favre's streak than Cal anyway.

As a Sox fan I always had respect for Jeter,Mariano and Posada. They came through the system and all 3 were very classy guys. I liked Cal better and is honestly one of my favorite players of all time. One of the nicest people I have ever met.

I think Jeter not playing Friday night was a slap in the face to alot of people. People paid big bucks to go see Jeter for the last time. How about the father and sons that wanted to share in that memory together? That is something Cal would never do, the fans meant to much to him.

The five players taken before Jeter in the 1992 draft: Phil Nevin, Houston; Paul Shuey, Cleveland; B.J. Wallace, Montreal; Jeffrey Hammonds, Baltimore; Chad Mottola, Cincinnati.

A Derek Jeter rookie card reportedly fetched $99,100 in an eBay auction, setting a new sales record for modern baseball cards.
PWCC, the company that conducted the online sale, confirmed to ESPN that the winning bidder has paid the hefty sum to buy the gem-mint-condition Jeter card.
The buyer, Adrian Proietti, said he previously passed on a similar Jeter rookie card, which had an asking price of $25,000, in 2008. The price he paid now is “still a very good deal,” he told ESPNOpens a New Window..
PSA/DNA, which grades baseball grades on their condition, has given a perfect 10 gem-mint rating to only 22 of 8,308 Jeter cards from the 1993 Upper Deck SP set.

This thread is like comparing Mays to Mantle.....

I voted Cal......

I fully agree.. People should be aware that Cal does a lot for the kids of the Baltimore area, building baseball fields etc...He gives of his time in the community very graciously.
I like Jeter, but have to vote the Ironman.
