Texas is the best I've tried for sure. From competing at BBQ competitions I've tried almost every style of Q there is. The weirdest for sure is in Alabama where they use a white sauce that is mayonnaise based...no thanks.

I own a smoker and when I get a weekend off from my catering business there's nothing I like more than to throw on some ribs and pork butt with some baked beans after cooking "gourmet" food all week.

Best Ribs

I've been to a lot of rib places all over the U.S. I went to the one that won Memphis in May that's in Alabama but the best ribs I've ever had are in Nashville, TN. Jacks BBQ. Best ribs, turkey breast and brisket I've ever had.

i love ribs and what i really love is variety... with that in mind if you can find a Kona Grill somewhere near try out their offering. They have a coffee based bbq sauce from scratch.. they are top notch.

and Texas has the best bbq... everyone else is just pretending.

Flint's in Oakland.

It's in Oakland they have to be good.

Would go there before A's games for the tailgate some times.

It was scary at first but never had a problem and we would give some to the security people as we were regulars and when going to concerts they remembered us and let us in the parking early return to our car to refill our beer cups and shit like that.

Those Flint ribs go a long way.

I ate at Corky's on Poplar in Memphis and had the best BBQ chicken sandwich I've ever eaten.

brock, I think you and I have talked about this in a previous thread. Neely's has some of the best beef BBQ I've ever tasted. A friend of mine swears by The Pig on Beale.

I like all kinds of BBQ whether it's Texas, KC or Memphis.

Don't know if this thread got to me subliminally or not, but after I went out this afternoon I stopped by Famous Dave's for some takeout.

Not bad at all for a chain, definitely better than the Memphis Championship Barbecue which I've had twice and been very disappointed.

Not as good as the T.C.'s Rib Crib up the street either.

I will have to check out the Kona Grill ones as I have one right up the street from me.

They used to have a Gates here in Vegas many years ago too. It closed and wasn't very good.

Next time you are there try the KC Masterpiece restaurant. It's the one where the famous BBQ was created. It's a bit sweet for some who don't like the sweet sauce.

If you like the tangy sauce, the best I've ever had was Jim's Rib Haven in Rock Island, Ill.

dang brock, hate to make you jealous, but i live about 5 miles from rendezvous. good shit, no doubt. blues city wet ribs are good but you wouldnt even think about getting dry ribs there. so many other great places to get them. rendezvous, interstate, neeleys and corkys are all better imo. gotta try those next time your in town.

I wouldn't trade ribs and pussy for living in Memphis.

its rough dd1. its almost to a point where you cant go and have a good time on beale st. anymore. the blacks(and im not racist by any means) have taken over. wouldnt care except that a lot of them are in gangs and it seems like every weekend there is a shooting or stabbing or just some bullshit going on. right outside of memphis there has been a building boom and therefor there are more and more mexicans moving in. wouldnt care bout that either except that they cant speak english and dont get along with the blacks, so they fight nonstop.

they have built a few clubs away from beale where you feel safe going, but the mayor has really let this city go to shit. nobody would dare open a decent place to eat anywhere but in the middle of the city.

i grew up here and will likely remain here. i live in a nice little area and am only a few minutes from dtown and in the other direction is the country club and shit. crime isnt bad in the middle of the city where more money is but there will always some bullshit here until we get rid of the thief of a mayor we got.

haaha, that being said, we always find time to sneak into the bbq joints all around town. you dont feel exactly safe going to them all, but the food is so damn good.
