So it's ok for Einstien to use regression analysis to play roulette but it's not ok for a respected member of the Rx forum to do the same thing?

Yes eintien was smart but there are also smart people on herer too for example the guy earlier that said that hot streaks occur in craps, well they do

In high school we studied regression used on the sighting of birds in the western USA. Well I can tell you that hitting a roulette number is like seeing a bird in the wilderness, well not exactly but you know what I mean as regards gambling

so in conclusion, if einstin can look and use regression so can I and it works with gambling ie roulette, just take a look at all the people crowded arond the table next time you're in Vegas

who said hot streaks don't happen in craps? What does that have to do with anything

hot streaks and cold streaks happen. life would be simpler if they had a neon sign above the
table flashing CRAP TABLE HOT OR TABLE COLD, the small detail is that either sign has no bearing
on the next roll. if it did, then casinos couldn't deal craps very profitably.

This post made me LOL. The ignorance is astounding.

for regression analysis to have any value certain parameters MUST be correlated.
roulette for the most part is random. for a wheel to be non-random, it must be
non-random enough to overcome the 5% vig that each roll extracts. good luck
with that. using regression analysis on a roulette wheel is like using a radar gun
to measure the speed of a snail. great tool, wrong use.

Yeah the other thing is even if you DID find some sort of statistically significant correlation (which you wouldn't), therefore rendering the spin of the wheel non-random enough to beat...then you would have to be able to MEASURE that variable.

Example, if you found out that there was a correlation between, let's say the speed at which the ball is pitched and the probability of a 00. Are you then going to be able to measure the independent variable (the speed of the pitch) in order to plug it into your model? No.

Off-the-wall example I know but that is how ridiculous this whole concept is.

I just want to add that it's not my opinion or theory that regression analysis doesn't work on roulette, it's a fact.

This is true. And also it's not only that a model one can develop would not work in practice...it's that you cannot even build a model. You would not find sufficient correlation to even build a model. This is like trying to mow your lawn with a hair dryer, it doesn't even make sense.

think of it another way, most people like easy money. if one could beat craps (without dice control)
or roulette via RA, imagine how many professional dice and wheel players there would be. i can't find
any. i can even find professional slot players. in blackjack, when counting became too big of a % of the
action, the casinos simply changed the payout on blackjack downward. i haven't seen any changes against
the player in craps or roulette.

Um, the problem with this assertion is that it's completely false and absurd.

I think the roulette machine has some consistency with at least having the ball land in the same section..For those who have not seen these machines, the wheel always stops in the same position to let the winning number release the ball for the next spin..I would imagine when the wheel starts spinning again it gets to the same speed everytime and when the 30 second timer expires then the ball is also released at the same speed everytime..Thus the ball seems to land in the same general area quite often if the ball drops smoothly into a number..

For those who are saying Huhhhh or wondering wtf,,,i would assume you havent seen this machine.., the grand sierra in reno has this machine among many places in vegas,,,including the orleans,,,silverton,,and southpoint has another version of this machine that i wont go into since the basic one apparently is hard to understand.. lets see if i can simplify it

1) the roulette wheel completely stops so it can drop the ball under the wheel for the next spin
2) the roulette wheel completely stops in the same position every time to drop the ball under the wheel for the next spin
3)the wheel starts spinning again as you have 30 seconds to place your next bet (presumably at the same speed every time)
4)when the 30 second timer goes to 0 u cant bet anymore and then the ball is released (presumably at the same speed every time)
5) when the ball goes around and around and it finally drops on the wheel,,it drops from the same location every time
6) with all those above variables being the same then the ball seemingly lands in the same area on the wheel as before provided its a smooth drop and doesnt hit something and bounce around

the guy earlier said that eintein had used regression to analyze roulette, ergo not false

I only said that Einstein had studied Roulette and that it was mathematically impossible to beat. The only way to win at Roulette is to be lucky in the short term and walk away.

If I had a quarter and told you that it hit heads the last 3 flips would you lay 55 to win 50 on it being tails on the next flip?

It's still 50-50 no matter what happened on the last 5 flips and it's the same concept as roulette. Regression Analysis can work on other things but you will lose just the same in Roulette as if you didn't do it.

I see what you saying now I think. They did that probably to keep the dealer (honest) from working as a cheat with an outside group. I've heard of dealers dropping it a certain way to cheat so ball lands in the ball park of certain area. I'm sure they've taking all precautions to keep it random though. I'm not too far from the Grand Sierra in Reno, though I don't play roulette but rarely, I might just check it out. But again these guys aren't stupid, so I'm sure it's even more random than it was before.

it's a machine no dealer just like they have computer craps tables with no dice or dealer

So it's like video roulette, only there's a real wheel in the middle that is spun by a computer? That's what I'm envisioning now.

Maybe I don't have a fancy college education and shit but I do have LIFE EXPERIENCE,...something an egghead like you will never appreciate

I would not require a college education to understand how absurd charting roulette or craps is. The most rudimentary understanding of basic probability is enough. It is not exactly higher math.

On the other hand I have never once been called an egghead before...... thanks for that. I have plenty of life experience to be honest (most of it bad)...... but no amount of experience of any sort changes the laws of basic probability.
