Do you ever think that society tricks us into craving a lifestyle that we don't need and working at a job we don't like for products we don't want?

Some people probably do that. Some of us (only speaking for myself), go to a job where we get along very well with everyone, little to no stress and make decent money.

If my vehicle breaks down, I don't worry about if I can fix it....same thing I both of my refrigerators happen to break on the same day, I would have no problem buying two new ones tonight. I don't have to worry about traveling for vacations. I do t know if you have those pressures or not.

yes I do....i dont' need to eat good food and golf and watch big tvs, but i'd prefer that over eating instant noodles and masturbating on an old small black and white tv

Why are you masturbating on your TV?

Ya excessive $/toys doesn't buy happiness over a certain threshold, but stability/peace of mind does buy a lot of happiness as studies show.

I work from home since December 2012. Best thing I've ever done, less stress by traffic, less unhealthy meals, less stress by idiotic people, etc.

Been working in the industry for about 11 years and after getting shitty gigs after shitty gigs finally got a job as a consultant for a new shop, that worked out well and now I'm a manager.

i get up early and work late most days but do it remotely (converted my garage into an office with sauna, couch, tv, heavy bag, fish tank and also work from the RV at the beach when waves are good)....not the most fun career, but supports the family and allows me a lot of freedom as long as I am on my game...don't love my job, but hope to retire early somewhere outside of the US once my kids are in college/jail but my wife wants another one which would start the countdown all over!

I'm still hoping you contact me for that back-end development job. :)

I am a sucker. I work long hard hours, not doing manual labor, but managing a lot of people which might even be worse. I leave the house at 5am every morning and I don't get home til about 6pm.

I live alone though and I quit drinking so, whatever, work is basically my life. I am just stacking money and trying to enjoy the ride. If I didn't work I don't know what I'd be doing with my time anyway. I like golf and poker and sports and all that, but I squeeze those things in.

It might not be going that way Mike.

All I have to say is that you better start being a little nicer to CP.....and me.

Wake up every morning and hate getting up. Not a morning person. Job isn't bad and pays good and people are cool...but in a perfect world i would be doing something else

What's wrong with waking up and having to go to a job? I do it 5 days a week. I deal with a lot of stress and bullshit and wouldn't have it any other way. Honestly wouldn't know what it is like to have a quiet, stress free job. I would hate it.

In terms of material. That has little to do with it for me. It's more about having stability and the freedom to do the things I want to do.
