2012/Obama shouldn't be surprising. He's a minority candidate. If the numbers you posted held true with Clinton vs someone like Kasich or Rubio I'd agree the issue is large.

the demographics the democrats dominate every election in the exit polling era are

low income
high school drop outs
African Americans

Jewish
Media & Hollywood (not exit polling, a few polls but more about financial support)

The republicans win the higher income demographics every two years with one exception, 2008

In 2012, Romney nationally won every income demographic over 50k, no matter how you slice that demographic. Now 50k is not a very high threshold, yet Obama still won reelection. That's a whole lot of support from people making < 50k

there's no spinning where the support comes from for each party, it's in the history books (exit polling data, which correlates with communities won and lost)

On election day, that history won't change, people who understand economic growth and working and taxes will not vote for more of the same misery

People are drawn to people with shared experiences. It makes sense that minority voters would tend to vote for someone who they feel is more likely to have had similar life experiences. No different than old white men lining up to vote for an old white man.

What Republican policies really changed between 04-12 that would effect their success with minorities? Maybe immigration to some degree, but most establishment Republicans are in favor of some path to citizenship. Unfortunately, Trump has been a disaster in terms of Republicans reaching out to minorities.

I wish it were more about policies, but how often are policies discussed? (by the media)

The biggest story to them is the horse race, polling results, who's offended by what and that silly gotcha moment

Talking policy, debating policy, policy successes and failures are nearly irrelevant

Because he wants to start cracking down on the actual laws that the forefathers who founded this country created?!

This country has been too nice, for too too long now.

Time to say enough is enough & clean it all up, primarily with the freedom of illegals & dangerous foreigners to enter our country.

Safety & security SHOULD be every person's priority and thats what makes Trump the logical choice.

The ppl who dont understand probably don't care merely because they'll probably be dead & gone when our counrty, the U.S. becomes about as safe as any other dangerous country.
