Tony Gonzalez (1997-2013) 1325 catches, 15,127 yards, 111 touchdowns

Rob Gronkowski ((2010 - ) 306 catches, 4379 yards, 54 touchdowns

Gonzalez was pretty damn good throughout his entire career!

Bad question. Tony G by a mile ... if we are talking about in their Prime

in 6 years, Gronk's already had the best season in the history of the position, 3 years > 1,000 yards and 5 seasons with 10 or more TD's

in 17 seasons, Tony went over 1,000 yards 4 times and had 10 TD's 3 times

I'm not sure what more can be said

I'll also suggest Gronk helps his team win (I don't think anyone can deny this, he makes them better)

While Gonzo won a whole lot less (I like Gonzo, but I'm making my case for the difference)

and Gonzo didn't exactly play in a different era either

this is for BAS

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls

It just shows you how the #1 Pats Cheerleader will turn a All Time Best into a Future Best thread around.

CURRENTLY he is not in the Top 5 ALL TIME BEST

That would be reserved for a few of these guys ..................... in no special order * with 1 extra

Tony Gonzalez
Shannon Sharpe
Mike Ditka
John Mackey
Kellen Winslow
Dave Casper

Again, when all said and done ... Gronk will probably be on the Top of the list.

I take a different view on Mr. G. I don't think he will have a long career because of injuries.

The dude is hurt every season.

Listed 6 because I didn't know who to leave out. No order.

Kellen Winslow (Chargers)
Ozzie Newsome (Browns)
John Mackey (Colts)
Mike Ditka (Bears)
Jackie Smith (Cardinals)
Dave Casper (Raiders)

My favorite (doesn't mean best) is Ozzie Newsome who was a great player for Alabama.

I like this list but I would put in Gonzalez and take out Jackie Smith....Smith was not a good teammate according to a few of his ex teammates....

Today's tight ends will have to wait a little longer before they get my vote...

The question will he be able to catch him in yards ? needs a little less than 10K
in this day and age, how long does Gronk play the game before he calls it quits

have to stay healthy too, IDK

The position has evolved so much in the last 30 years. The modern era TE probably started with Winslow.

Any order - Winslow, Gonzalez, Gronk, Gates, J Graham

You are Right On FW regarding the older TE's and the modern day guys. I prefer the old guys because they had to
play like tackles with their blocking and catch the ball on limited occasions.

Dallas TE Jasen Whitten is a good player...don't get me wrong. (943 catches, 10,502 yards, 57 TDs) but he does not
belong in the room with Ditka, Mackey, etc... My opinion.

5 More years of Gronk being Gronk and he'll be #2.
