How about scumbag Joe Torre 1971 mvp and manager? Delayed game 6 on a sunny day so Carpenter could pitch game 7.

Give me Joaquin Andujar as my favorite Cardnial. Puljos stuck a steroid needle up his ass so not him.

Musial was the premiere hitter in the National League from 42 to the late 50's. Hornsby was the great right handed hitter of all time and holds the highest single season average for 3 teams Cardinals .424 and Chicago & the Boston braves in the .380's. It's close but being that Musial spent his entire career with the cardinals I give him the edge.

and a member of the KKK.

Born and grew up in Winters Texas. Clan membership where Hornsby grew up was due in part to lack of education—Dallas and Fort Worth (where the Klan was especially strong) being largely populated by men and women reared in obscure towns and country places where public schools are short-termed and scarce.

When Hornsby was in his prime The Klan backed an avowed "knight," Earle B. Mayfield of Austin, and he became the US senator from Texas during Hornsbys amazing 1921-1925 seasons. Hornsby can easily be excused along with fellow Texan Tris Speaker!

NO WAY

Most baseball fans under 30 years old know very little of LOU BROCK.................especially in comparison to STAN THE MAN.

STAN the MAN and LOU BROCK are two tremendously UNDERrated all-time greats.................simply because they did not play in a big EAST or WEST coast market.

Brock was a corner outfielder with a career high OPS of .821. Exactly how low do most people rate him so that he is underrated?

Also among corner outfielders, most everyone who cares to make ratings has Musial slightly below Ted Williams, right around Hank Aaron and above Frank Robinson. You really think such a rating is incorrect?

I can say with complete certainty that the few idiots who rate Rogers Hornsby as the best player in history have overrated him more than just about anything else imaginable

FWIW - I doubt there will ever be a more popular Cardinal than Stan Musial. He is the Ted Williams of St Louis Cardinal baseball lore. His numbers are outstanding although I won't post them here they are easily obtainable with a simple Google.

In 1948 Musials signature season he led the league in every major catagory except one, only fellow Cardinal Joe Medwick
could match that.
Musial led the league in:
Runs 135
Hits 230
2b's 46
3b's 18
RBI's 131
Avg. .376
Slugging .702

The only Major Catagory he didn't win in 1948 was Homeruns, he missed by 1 HR. Big John Mize & Ralph Kiner hit 40 HR's and Musial had 39.
