Mine was this summer, having a boring afternoon and deciding to play the freaking dream team against Italy in that prep tourney on the money line. 2000 to get 100. What a freaking dumb ass. Never again.

Ouchy...that is a good one:drink: :drink:

For the record I loved watching those arrogant Dream Team self-righteous jag-offs get their azz beat that week. :103631605

It took me 3 months to build my bankroll up to 7500 profit betting 100 and 200 a game. I was on fire!! Then,I don't know why but I took Maryland for 300 on the ML against Clemson figuring they would not lose 3 in a row to them. Well,I lost 1500 there and was so mad I did that,I bet the other 6000 on Air Force ML to beat San Diego State as they were on espn at midnight. They had just beat them by 20 and were 8 point favorites. Well, they lost outright. I was devestated and still have not recovered.

Wow, this is a great thread.

I guess the most "undisciplined" thing was the amount I bet on Philly + the points and other assorted wagers in the SB this year. Then again it happened to work out so maybe this doesn't count.

I have from time to time just bet large last second before a game so that I could have action. Sometimes in wins, sometimes it loses. Can't even hardly remember em, probably because I'm hypothetically high. When it wins I'm a genius, when it loses I feel like an idiot.

Seems like with most people it's a bad loss and a big chalky ML. Somehow never really had the urge to do that.

Ohhh, I got one. I had the Cubs at 50-1 to win the WS in 2003 and did not do any additional hedging when they were up 3 games to 1 in the NLCS. :sad3:

valdosta,

You certainly are not alone, as I am sure virtually EVERY gamber has done something similar along the way. I know I did, too...

After WINNING over 10k in sports betting during a College Football Season over 20 years ago, I got GREEDY during the Bowl Games. I was a 200-500 bettor at the time, but after a few losses, I started doubling up on some BOWL games...

To make a long story short, I lost back the entire 10k that it had taken all year to win in 2 weeks...

I had spent the money I won and could not pay the bookmaker...

After receiving a lot of threatening phone calls, I told my parents what had happened....

My Mom flew from NY to Atlanta where I was living, pawned an expensive piece of jewelery in order to pay my debt.

I lived in a 2 story Condo on the second floor and on the way to the pawn shop, my mother fell down the steps and hurt herself badly...

To this day, I can never forget the pain and agony I put her through and what she had done for me. She did this behind my Dad's back as well...

Since then, nothing of the sort has happened to me nor will it again...

Ouch, that was pretty bad. At least you learned from it and are where you are now. I have always played post up and not credit. I know I could get credit but do not want it. If you watch your balances dwindle (when you lose) it's better IMO. Never used a local either. Then again that was 20 years ago so you did't have the option of just using online books.

Mine was taking the timberwolves on a HUGE ML like -500 2 yrs ago for my entire account balance ...I think it was like $1100 as I was on a 6 game winning streak thinking I could pick up another 200 easy and LOST it all as they lost by 1 when garrnet missed a 6 footer in the lane for the WIN...that hit me hard

never did that again

WOw, hard to imagine you doing that when I read your posts you always seem very level headed. Happens to the best of us :drink:

My most undisciplined wager came in 1997 with ESB of all places on a phone bet. I lost about 3 dimes on the Sunday Night NFL game, I had the under and with like 3 seconds left instead of taking a knee the idiots kicked a meaningless field goal. I was PISSED OFF and DRUNK so I immediately called ESB and bet the balance on a Monday night side/total parlay. Bye Bye Money....I will never forget that feeling. You all know it.

A toast to better days, G

Damn, yeah that's basically the same thing that happened to me but just a different sport. Bookies can thrive off a gambler getting frustrated.

undiciplined and paid dearly....about 10 years ago, was in new orleans with my old man, a friend and a cousin of mine....after an afternoon in the french quarter we got in our rented caddy and drove out to i think it was delta downs or evangeline downs(whichever one looks like someone's farm)....this was not a place for new york city boys.....we were tying it on heavy that nite and wound up betting on a whim some horse that had the name 'reggae' in it...we ponied up $50 apiece....horse goes off at over 100-1...they were runnin quarter horses that nite....the horse wins we go nuts..we start tabulating our winnings in the "outhouse or clubhouse" we were ineverbody is totally stoked for us, we start buying beers and shots...before it goes legit!!!...THEN... the inquiry sign comes on...our 'reggae' horse gets taken down....there goes our $20,000 and then went my dad, me ,and my cousin after the jockey,,,(horse wins by more than 2 lengths..which is alot in quarters...and veered across the place finisher harshly for no reason what-so-ever.....)i **** u not...that's how fired up we were and the access to the track and horses was one in that u could actually reach out and touch someone....well suffice it to say after causing a melee and and a half...i got to see what justice is in the south....(see my cousin vinny..u know what i mean)...my poor friend had to call his parents up in the middle of the night back in new york to bail us out...having to explain to his parents how his friend and his family took on a jockey and about 20 rednecks...stupidest thing i ever did!!! never mixed alcohol and/or drugs again w/gambling....lesson learned.....

I was in Vegas sometime around 1990. I had lost about $600 on blackjack and other things and decided I was going to try and get even in one shot. Took a cash advance of about $800 on my credit card and put $680.00 on the Cubs (at Mel Exber's Las Vegas Club) playing a night game at Candlestick. I think i was getting +110. They actually moved the line after I made the wager from -120 to -115 on the Giants (first and only time I ever did that because I usually bet $20-50 a game tops). Needless to say the Giants won the game 13-1 in a game where player's caps were blowing off and going all the way to the outfield fence! Took me about 9 months of steady payments to get the credit card balance zeroed. I've never carried over a balance since then!

I had been winning by following some soccer cappers. So the natural thing for a rookie bettor to do is increase the bet amounts. I made 5 bets of 10% of BR each and all 5 lost in 1 day! I lost half my BR in 1 day!
