Original Psycho and When a Stranger Calls (if that is the movie where the guy calls from inside the house) scared the shit out of me when I first saw them. Probably was too young to watch When a Stranger Calls, but man, to this day I remember being scared beyond belief.

The original "When a Stranger calls" is Creepy as hell, the remake a few years ago was awful in comparison.

Scared the shit out of me. I was like 7.

Couldn't sleep for weeks. Always figured he was in my closet.

As far as fear factor goes...The mindgame horror films pump the most scare effect in me...The Ring was kinda trippy...Still haven't seen the Jap version RingU yet...And Black Christmas the 1975 version had a good scare...This new horror now is pretty much about what director can come with the most cut throat intense sicker than sick gut ripping experience...

You definatly know your stuff.

Wan and Roth are the men to me right now. Anything they put out is gold. I have already seen Hostel 2 but will rent it just to check out the extras, same goes for Saw 4 when it hits DVD.

What suprises me, I was reading his Wiki entry earlier and Tobin is signed on for both a part 5 and 6.

I dont know if you are kidding, but Empire Strikes Back scared me when I was 7. No seven year old wants to see their heros get their hand chopped off or frozen in carbonite or tortured.

The Ring wasn't bad, not at the top of my list, but when the chick walked out of the t.v., freaked the shit out of me.

A couple of others I liked that no one has mentioned are Joyride and Jeepers Creepers.

I was referring to the original, never saw the remake as it looked lame and remakes generally are.

Jaws really is great because it takes a common environment and a real life monster. It's not a stretch from reality, although shark attacks are extremely rare.

A bit like jaws, it's a realistic environment. Alone in a dark house...

"Hostel" movies were especially disturbing because the events were so plausible as there were no monsters, just demented sadistic killers.

Yeh I felt a bit awkward after that one ended, probably because of the attitude of the movie. You know this kind of stuff has to go happen somewhere though.

but when the chick walked out of the t.v., freaked the shit out of me

In the Japanese version I always got a shiver down my spine when the girl came on tv. Wasn't scary, but nothing else have ever done that to me.

Newer movie, the descent. Saw it 3 times and even though I knew every scare coming I jumped a mile. Not gorry or stupid just scare after scare after scare. If you havent seen it, great scare for Halloween.

It took me trying to call my own house and realizing you couldn't do it to get me over that movie.

I liked this one as well. Some pretty tense moments in it almost hard to watch at times.

I was scared shitless when my brother & sister took me
to see "Night of the Living Dead"don`t think I was older
than 8 or 9.

That movie was made with like a $17,000 budget or
something crazy like that.

I still remember putting my head under the seat for
much of that movie.

All around the time I was 12 or 13

"You can't kill the boogeyman." :scared:
Halloween. The part where he sits up in the closet and turns his head is a scary ass moment.

"Have you checked the children." :scared::scared:
When a Stranger Calls, watched it at home alone when I was about 13 and it scared the bejesus outta me. Actually went and got a shotgun off my dad's gun rack lol.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. :scared::scared::scared:

The Shining. Fucking frightening from start to finish. The part where she is flipping through his pages scared the crap out of me cause I knew it meant the Real Shit was about to hit the fan. Literally sat there with numb arms and legs, felt like a deer in the headlights. REDRUM!

Shining & the original Halloween are definitely up there.

For some reason, the original Chucky movie bugged me for a while.
