kaya...Not paying for ass, so PLEASE don't go that route. I'm just trying to figure out what this place is offering, aside from ass and being a haven for sportsbooks.

Obviously, I'm getting the hell out of here. It's taking some time though to sell house, car, business, etc. because the economy is falling flat on it's face and everyone is afraid to buy anything or spend money. It's real easy to leave this place if you willing to leave your money here. I'm not the only one going through this at the moment. It's weird...Twilight Zone shit. Very difficult to sell ANYTHING of value here. A ton of money has pulled out of this place, the locals don't have any money. The ones that do..they're downscaling, not investing.

how about if you display a list of what you are selling here along with the prices? You might have something I might want to buy

Thanks guys, but I'm actually supposed to close the sale transaction tomorrow on the car. The business...I'm taking on 3 or 4 minority partners...two next week. So it looks like I've finally got that moving. It's easier to sell 10% to 30% of the business than to find a buyer to take over the whole thing. It's making pretty good money too, so I want to retain 30 to 50% in it to keep getting the cash prizes.

The house is in Sabana oeste. 3 br/2 baths, jacuzzi in the patio, 1 car covered carport....townhouse stlye...about 950 square feet, great location and safe cul-de-sac with guard at entrance...a landscaped park on the other side of the street...It's a great neighborhood and the main reason I lasted here this long. Anyways, $64,900. owned under a corporation. no existing morgage

American, granted doing business here can be somewhat frustrating. But for me the quality of life here far outweighs that frustration. The natural beauty of this country is amazing. From Manuel Antonio to Monte Verde to Arenal. Also I love the pace of life here.It is mellow, which fits my personality.I also really like Costa Ricans.I find that they truely love life.I find them very generous and are quick to accept you as family.I currently rent a house in the mountains of Escazu, and am in the process of buying one in the same area. When I walk out in the morning and see my surroundings,I am glad to be alive. Also CR has many gringo ammenities such as golf courses and good resteraunts. So although Ticas are incrediblly beautiful and also nice, but they are somewhat down the list as to why I love this country.Like I said before,am not trying to convince you to like it here.It is not for everyone. But for me,its where I want to be for the rest of my life.

After reading your post, I realize we have different realities. I'll tell you why. A few years ago, I would have said the exact same thing you did. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you, as I did before, spend 50 to 60 hours a week working in the sportsbook industry. When you work in a sportsbook, you're in your own little world, basically insulated from a lot of the negative aspects that I've brought up about living here. Since you work so hard, when you do get some time off you go out to a nice restaurant with a nice young woman maybe, or go to the movies, or plan a quick trip to the beach or some other fun activity. That's how I used to do it and I never complained about anything here. It was when I started my own business that I began to tear into this culture and deal with everyone's problems, daily commutes dealing with horrible traffic under terrible driving conditions, lawyers and government officials all trying to to take a bite out of my ass and steal money. Doing business here is extremely frustrating at times, and I have a successful one. Anyways, I think that's where our realities are different. I'm in the trenches dealing with this culture on a daily basis, while you deal with it on YOUR terms. As long as you can keep that going, you'll enjoy it here. The moment you are forced to deal with this culture on their terms, you'll be where I am with it.

BTW, are you up in San Antonio de Escazu? I used to live up there. It's pretty nice and no one ever fcked with me up there either. Coming down off that hill every day got old though. If you leave your house 3 times a day, you'll be spending an hour a day just driving up and down the hill. Aside from that, it was almost all right...almost.

American,I do live up there.Actually the traffic is not as bad now as when I first moved here. But I have learned, when you leave the mountain do everything you have to do before going back up.And you are right we do have different realities, which is natural.Having moved from NYC after 15 years{which I loved}this is the opposite end of the spectrum.I have truely fallen in love with this country. It also has an English speaking theatre so I can stay involved in one of my greatest loves.Plus its the best climate I have lived in.But believe me,I understand why some people leave.Have had some close friends who didn't like it here and went back to the States.I understood completely.Either way good luck with your biz and your relocation.

Btw,American, btw, when I first moved here I was responsible for setting up and managing a biz.Still have an outstanding lawsuit against a bank,so I totally understand your frustration from a business stand point.
