I have folded AA a few times in tourneys so obviously I could say anything is foldable when the situation is right for me.

Tell me these folds were after the flop.

I would fold A-A pre flop in a certain situation, say we were 1 spot away from the cash and 2 or 3 people are all in pre flop..

I may get out of the way.

You would have to have many less chips than the blinds to even consider such a thing and even then I would call as I play to win the game.

Pocket Aces is no doubt the best hand before the flop, but if the flop comes 7,8,9 and not suited, WHAT would you do?

It certainly was not dumb to call. If you win the hand and you should have, you would have positioned yourself to limp on home. Eventually you were going to be forced to play and if you can get all your chips in with by far the better hand you do it. Simple as that in my opinion.

I will call whatever they bet with pocket aces before the flop, after the flop it could change but before the flop I will call till they run all the COWS out of Texas...

Exactly, preflop it is a no-brainer. Where people get in trouble is the ego of having pocket aces getting in the way of laying them down later on sometimes.

I am fairly tight, but will raise with almost any two cards preflop in the right situation.

the hand i avoid as best i can is j-10. I had run pokertracker for a while and that hand cost me more than any other "good starting" hand. Its a hand that gets people in the most trouble unless you hit your straight. too many times you will hit top pair with second best kicker or it will cost you money on the draw.

i would much rather play 5-6. If i hit a 5 or 6 i will easily get away from it as opposed to when you hit the j or 10 as a top pair. and when you hit your straight or flop a set or boat it is very well disguised and generates nice profits especially when you lead out. good players will realize that you hit a j-10 straight and wont pay you off as well.

just my 2 cents.

Sorry guys but you need to work on your late tournament strategy if you refuse to lay rockets down. The situations come up occasionally, but you need to be prepared for them.

By all means remember in a tournament you are playing the structure and the field more than the hands. When you have chips and a bunch of players don't and they are trying to make the money or move up the ladder, you can play many hands as if you have AA. When the tables are turned you have to change strategies and work to maximize your equity in the prize pool. And that might require you to quietly muck premium hands.

Wild Bill,

You are correct but trying to tell people that folding AA is a smart move reminds me of the old saying " if you have to ask then you wouldn't understand anyway".
Poker is all about maximizing your chance of winning money. Period.

Never ever before the flop, why on earth would you ever fold before the flop with pocket aces? unless you are clueless of the game. you can maximize all day and all night, but never fold with pocket aces before the flop, it doesnt matter what the circumstances are...
