lander, despite the gigantism, i'd be willing to bet that andre lived a pretty full, happy life.

i mean come on...he had world fame, a lot of money and he starred in one of the funniest movies of all time - the princess bride.

I don't donate to charities. Instead, I've helped friends when they've really needed it, to an extent far more than I'd ever have given to charity in the usual way. Not knocking anyone's charity, either, but my kind of help has had an immediate and long-lasting impact on people I care about, without waste and without tax writeoffs which I eschew anyway.

Snuka is 60 years old...holy cow! just checked...

Blue, I saw a documentary on Andre once..By many acounts he was not a happy person, they (his family) said because of his abnormailty he never really fit in anywhere...And talk about never getting away with disguising yourself....Andre could go nowhere without being recognized WORLD WIDE!

The stories about Andre drinking cases of beer at one sitting are a riot! Hard to believe he has been gone that long already..

The giant who led the best life was Wilt Chamberlain. He died a multi-millionaire, I know money is not everything, but Wilt had a hell of life along with being rich.

wil.

I am guilty myself, but want to say I hate to see this thread get side-tracked by giants.

Interesting story about the relationship between the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund.

After Ted Williams retired from baseball in 1961, then-rookie Carl Yastrzemski was the first of a new generation of players to take on the Jimmy Fund cause.

Members of the 1967 Impossible Dream Team made history with their generous gift to "Jimmy".
It was Yaz who suggested one of the most memorable gestures by the team. In an unrivaled show of support for the Jimmy Fund, the 1967 Impossible Dream Team voted to give a full share of its winnings from the World Series (about $5,000) to "Jimmy". No other Boston team – before or since – has ever repeated the gesture

The Juvenile Diabetes Fund

Diabetes is THE leading cause of Heart Disease...Blindness and Kidney Failure.
Read about how DEADLY this disease is and how it effects millions of children.
My daughter, Alexis Marie, is 21 years old and has had this disease since her 2nd birthday.
Four injections every single day...four blood checks every single day. FOREVER..FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE.
Alexis Marie is just one person. Millions of young people MUST do this DAILY.
It's starting to take its toll. Eye surgery!

Please read about this DEADLY disease.

I have proudly donated my time and money to The Disabled American Vetrans..

Opening up your wallett is great, but if you ever get the chance to donate your time to a charity you should; you will feel like a million bucks!

Anything to do with wildlife or animals. They have a conservation society that rescues seals and dolphins about 5 miles away from me I give to them twice a year.

SS named a great one WWF. All these and still find the time and money for friends with stories. I have a new motto I DONT NEED ANYMORE FRIENDS.

I give to my local municipality to help buy computers for the school and do renovations and stuff like that. Call me an a-hole but I really don't give a hoot about starving children on the other side of the world, and even if I did, sending money to relief agencies would do nothing to improve their long-term outlook. Funding Al Qaeda would be much more effective for that IMO.
