What CHARITY do you DONATE to?

I give when I can to others but feel strongly about people fighting Multiple Sclerosis....

I don`t know anyone who has it but I became rather knowledgeable about the disease about 3 years ago....I had similar symptoms as someone with MS, or atleast the doctor had thought so at the time...anyway it turned out I had mercury poisoning and my nervous system was damaged, thankfully after about 6 months it pretty much went away....but I never forgot those strange symptoms that you can`t even explain unless you experience them..

Multiple Sclerosis is a horrendous disease that doctors have not been able to come up with much to remedy its wide variety of symptoms...

Just curious how many gamblers give to these or other charities...

They help the fight against cancer in children.

Awesome...I belive strongly in the WWF (World Wild life Fund) & the SPCA.

It really breaks my heart when I see how we as human beings disrespect nature.

Please, if you are ever thinking of going to an animal show or circus or something like that, think twice....watch them rather in their natural beuty...take photographs....

Iraq Emergency Projects

Conflict and over 12 years of crippling sanctions have left the Iraqi people in a fragile state. The ongoing insecurity, power cuts, lack of clean water and food only add to the misery of a vulnerable people. Here is the latest update on Islamic Relief's emergency relief work.

HEALTH
After precise needs assessments, Islamic Relief Iraq has distributed Emergency Health Kits (EHKs) to 17 hospitals and health care centres in central Iraq. Each kit can meet the basic health needs of 10,000 people for three months. Five Primary Health Care Centres are currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Earlier, 70 wheelchairs and 5 hospital beds were distributed amongst hospitals and centres for the disabled. Medicines and other equipment have also been distributed, and rehabilitation work on hospitals and health centres continues.

EDUCATION
Islamic Relief has helped around 2850 children to return to school so far. Rehabilitation began with Al Sajjad Primary School for Girls in Kerbala, and continues in schools ac**** central and Southern Iraq.

Emergency repairs included fixing the water and sanitation facilities and electrical supply, replacing ceiling fans and repainting the building inside and out. Nine schools have been rehabilitated so far, and more rehabilitations are in progress or planned.

WATER
Water and sewage treatment plants and distribution systems all continue to disintegrate due to years of neglect. The result is contaminated drinking water which can be deadly for the young, sick or the elderly.

Working in partnership with Merlin, Islamic Relief has distributed over 270,000 packs of water treatment chemicals to families and hospitals in the worst affected areas. IR also plans to rehabilitate water treatment plants in Iraq.

Without a secure environment and safe access to populations in need, emergency relief operations are extremely difficult. Despite the dangers Islamic Relief staff in Iraq are hard at work helping to alleviate suffering.

I guess you could call me an avid waterman...I spend probably a good 40 days out on the water each summer and fall..nothing better than the great outdoors...

I respect the water and its sealife but when I get my hands on those chesapeake bay crabs there coming home to be steamed!!!

The Yawkey family Tom and his wife Jean along with Ted Williams were major supporters of The Jimmy Fund. Mr. Yawkey made The Jimmy Fund the official charity of the Boston Red Sox back in the early 50's. Ted did a lot for seriously ill children his whole life. Most of the time he did not want his name mentioned when it came time to give credit. Bobby Orr was very generous with his time and money to the fund. I have in a very small way always tried to help The Jimmy Fund, a wonderful charity for the most derserving of members of American society - The Children.

Background: Gigantism refers to the excessive linear growth that occurs with growth hormone (GH) excess when epiphyseal growth plates are open during childhood, whereas acromegaly indicates the disorder of GH excess in adulthood. These disorders may be thought of as existing along a spectrum of GH excess, with principal manifestations determined by the developmental stage during which such excess originates. Onset of GH hypersecretion in childhood results in gigantism, onset of GH hypersecretion in late adolescence results in tall stature and acromegaly, and GH hypersecretion that occurs after fusion of the epiphyses is termed acromegaly.
