What are the pros and cons of having a Site Promotion room at all?

The only good thing about the site promotions forum is that once in a blue moon I have found out about a contest I wouldn't have known about otherwise, especially around the start of football and March madness.

Actually, back when I was posting regularly on theRX, I did appreciate the site promotions forum for finding a good contest. Lots of free money to win out there... I don't see a good reason to get rid of the forum. Those that aren't interested don't have to go there. Those that are have the ability to. If someone is looking for another site to check out, having the site promotions there just cuts back on ten minutes of searching the internet.

as i have told you COUNTLESS TIME shrinkie-poo - we NEED a "private message" system here so people can e-mail each other w/o having to ask for it to be done on the site - and also this way we don't have to give out any e-mail addresses - so touts and all can't get it from us

If you want a well rounded site, I would keep the site promotion forum. If you guys are worried about the site promotions forum being a breeding ground for new forums such as THERX, I would not get too concerned. TheRX is the #1 Offshore Forum on the net, and as far as im concerned, it always will be.

One concern I have read from other forums that is a complant about this site is its over moderated. If you get rid of the site promotions, that gives those people even more ammo and proof that that could be true.

I am on the fence as well. I invited the touts to voice their opinions here also. Another thing, from the responses, it appears the vast majority can care less.

Well after reading more of the reasons of NOT having the site, I see the rationale of saving lost souls and their money. I think Kidslick made some good points.


MY ONLY REASON FOR KEEPING, WAS NOT TO ALLOW THEM TO CLOG THE OTHER GOOD FORUMS, ALSO IT SEEMED LIKE A PLACE TO LET A FREE FOR ALL ON SELLING SELECTIONS...AND LETS BE HONEST IS THAT ENOUGH GARBAGE TO DETER EVEN THE MOST NAIVE GAMBLER.....MAYBE I AM GIVING PEOPLE TOO MUCH CREDIT

thats ironic,,, its the same people saying this that use the site promos to try and steal our posters....its the only reason they care about it...if this was my site it wouldn't be here....why give them the chance to use the site?

If we conclude to remove it, there will be no safe haven for touts or shills. They will be dealt with properly. The Rubber Room will not be the new shill section. We will simply delete the posts and put users on Post Review or suspend on a second offense.

Alan, you have followed the rules pretty well and kept yourself in promos. Problem is you are a good example. Day by day, others are finding ways to abuse it. It's nothing to do with fear, but everything to do with good business practice. I look out for TheRx only. I can care less about other businesses as long as my position is to work on makiing TheRx better.

It really won't bother me one way or the other. I must say this, however. All of the paranoia about touts is absolutely insane. So there are touts in the world. Big friiggin deal. some are good, some are crooks. Same with car salesmen.

Nothing makes me want to barf more than this age old crap about protecting the poor soul who might get swindled by the evil tout. That is total bull. None of you guys give a damn if someone gets screwed by a tout.
If someone gets taken by a tout then he can live and learn like every one else in the world. Do I wish that on anyone. Of course not. But I'm not going to pretend that I'm the tout police either. Don't tell me your worried about the poor newbie because I've seen the way many newbies have been treated around here. They are often made to feel like scum of the earth because they don't have enough posts next to thier name.
Thats the mentality I all too often witness here.
If the tout page is a problem, eliminate it. If not, keep it there. My 2 cents. Thanks

If theres anyone that I have asked to leave thr RX and join mine I want to be banned! I think this is a great place and Alan actually reffered me here! I intended going to the bash with my wife and a friend but I dont want to feel looked upon as a poster stealer??????????? Any input????:monsters-

Amen!! Could not say it any better myself. No rules were broken here. None. Stealing posters a comical statement. I did not know the RX owned posters. Site Promotions means Site Promotions doesnt it.
