I will second the fasting. IMO there is many ways to lose weight you just have to find what works for you. Me personally, most days I don't eat anything until atleast 3:00, sometimes later. I just had my first and only meal of the day today and its 8:00. Now I understand that the fitness nerds are going to say what I'm doing isnt good. I don't care. It's what i've found that works for me personally because it doesn't bother me to skip breakfast and lunch and when I do it it doesn't matter as much when I eat a shitty dinner. I will also occasionally just straight up fast for 1-3 days with no food at all. Once you get past 24 hours you're really not hungry any longer.

are you drinking coffee while not eating earlier meals ??

I ask because i knew a guy that drank like 11 cups of coffee all day and just ate dinner

Thanks for the advice, fellas. I think I'm gonna shoot for 100 pounds in a year. Diet and exercise should be no problem, and if I'm losing too much too quickly, I'll just order a pizza and take a day off once in awhile. I've done the elliptical for two hours today, and really want to get on it for a third session, but I guess I'll be safe and not over obsess.

What does a typical elliptical session look like for you? You measuring heartbeat and doing HIIT, or simply just saying I’m going to get this hour in and be done with it?

I would say consistent grinding, moderate effort, not comfortable, but not overly uncomfortable. I find it works best for me, because I do not want to hit the ropes or push the sled. My body building buddy is going to get me into moderate weight training in 2-3 months. I know I need weights, but right now, I just want to grind.

after the first 2-3 weeks, you SHOULD have a cheat day. doesn't mean eat everything in sight that day, but for dinner have two slices of Pizza with a salad
go right back to your diet the next day. you will see that you won't miss a beat.

Two years ago I did very well on my No White diet. Just did fast walking 5 days a week and some light weights 3 days a week and lost some great weight.

had a bunch of personal shit happen in the last 15 months and put back 20lbs. But I'm back to the diet with a little more weights this time
lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks and went down a pant size

Protein will full you up and not make you want to snack.

Good luck and stay with it.

I’m surprised he’s saying wait 2-3 months (or you’re maybe, and he’s not pushing the subject). You’ll see better results from the weight training. Imo, no cardio is better than cardio overkill, but I’m definitely glad to hear you’re “grinding” one way or the other...

Was going to say something similar. Only way too much cardio will hurt you is if you don’t stretch at all. Think I heard Eminem was running like 20 miles a day type shit to get back in shape when he got fat right after proof died

Honestly, quitting soda was the first step and it took me 8 weeks to overcome it. I had to cut back, then go 3 days, and then I could not say no. It was a workout in and of itself, that shit is like cocaine when you are truly addicted. The final step was to drink a diet soda every three days, and that did it. I still have the 12 pack of diet, but don't think I'll need to buy any more. Water and black coffee are fine now. I'm sure he'd be pushing weights harder if he lived near me, but I think he's just glad I've started the journey.

I didn't give up much when I tried to lose weight . just exercised more and pretty much at the weight I want to be.. but moderation is the key. I wouldn't cut out much of anything other then that soda. cut back on some bread , and sweets ..it will come off.. don't starve what ever you do. you need fuel to exercise ..

I don't drink coffee every morning regardless of what I'm eating. Some days I drink a cup, some days i don't. But to answer your question yes, I will sometimes have a cup of coffee in the morning, and yes I put heavy cream in my coffee so technically I am getting some minute calories in the morning on those mornings I have a cup.

I've just never found it hard to go 15 hours or more with no real food so I find the intermittent fasting thing works for me. To go with that if I don't eat those first two meals of the day I can have some pizza or a burger or whatever and still not blow my daily calories out of the water. Thats why I like it. And like I said, I realize the nutrition nazi's will say what I do isn't healthy and I'm eating wrong when I do eat blah blah blah. I don't care, this is the way I've found that I can do it and do it as part of my normal everyday life cause my ass isn't going to eat bland chicken and bland brown rice 5 times a week. I've never been good at "eating clean" for more then a few weeks at a time. This I can do everyday and it doesn't feel like I'm dieting.

Also I have lost roughly 45 pounds in the last 5 months or so

Check out the Military diet - only 3 days a week and then you can return to the normal diet for the rest of the week......I have dones this since the start of June & summer has been "fun (lots of good wine)" but I have still lost 10 pds in 10 weeks ...I should be at my goal by Christmas down 30 pounds.

I run on Eliptical 3X a week, yoga 1-2X a week, (yoga is the bomb...ass tits & many a cute girl) golf once a week.

Yoga also good for golf hitting the ball further of the tee this year.

So if you are like me can control yourself during the week but want to have fun on the weekends check out the military diet

Yuck cut out soda - for sure if you need bubbles drink soda water

absolutely and especially as we age. Improves flexibility . Don't feel stiff. Easier to make a full turn, to extend down the line. Loose is great for golf. Addict here, lol.................yoga, overall, is a health booster for damn sure

something i totally forgot to mention
one of the biggest shifts is that it's going to be necessary to start cooking your own food for a majority of the meals
even eating what looks healthy (ie. sub from a deli) is going to have more calories than you expect.

I did Whole 30 for a month, lost 15 pounds, I didn't have to exercise at all. The downsides were the headaches you get around day 3-4 from cutting sugar out of your diet, spending the 30 days usually feeling hungry, and having to read the labels on everything at the grocery store. No sugar, dairy, soy, flour, or carbs so you're basically just eating eggs, fruits, veggies, nuts, and meat for one month. Good luck on your journey, sounds like you have the willpower to get it done.
