Your comparisons about eliminating blocking out in basketball or running the bases in mlb are just silly
I wonder how you would feel about roughing the passer penalties if some 300 pound lineman laid on brady and ended his season or career
You said we need to keep star players from getting hurt. Do you mean that or not? Are you waffling now? Either you have a foundation, a fundamental value system that enables you to reach consistent conclusions or you're just making up shit to support a conclusion you already reached. Where do you draw the line with protecting star players from injuries?
Brady's been playing a long long long time, just as many QB's have. Their careers have not been ended, have they? So what are you trying to prevent again? Something that doesn't happen?
Unnecessary roughness is illegal, was illegal, has always been illegal. Hence pile driving as always been illegal. The difference now is the ref has to decide if the 300 lb defensive lineman shifted enough of his body weight as they were falling to the ground. The rules a joke, the rule speaks for itself, and that's why the NFL was already issuing "clarifications" after 3 weeks. Nobody really understands it, coaches don't know how to coach around it, refs don't know how to call it, yet it's a point of emphasis so they have to do something
Football is a vicious sport, and injuries are part of the game just as their part of the game in NON contact sports. If Brady gets injured, he gets injured, it's something that's always possible in football. I wouldn't suggest they change the rules. I would only be pissed if it were obviously a dirty play
I made my arguments, you made yours, I tend to let people think for themselves
