I don't really understand all the hate against the roughing the passer penalty

You guys want to watch the games with star quarterbacks hurt and bum backups playing?

Then everyone would complain that the games are trash.

Adapt or die

Yea i'm cool with them protecting the QB...But some of the penalties called are some pussy ass shit. This is the NFL with monsters running around at full speed and they want you to tackle someone, not too high or too low, can't touch the heads or the legs...AND not fall on the QB with your weight.

Its a Joke, Period.

how do you think the NFL gets new star QB's? One way is when the 1st QB is hurt. In addition, we watched NFL football for a long time with real tackles and injuries and were just fine, so yes I want to watch with back up QB's for some teams if some guys get injured.

Absolutely, that's what we're saying. Those fingers grazing the helmet are obviously blows to the head. And extending two arms and pushing the QB just after he passes, we can't have that in football either. BULLSHIT, Roger's NFL has officially introduce flopping to the NFL.

Youse know something else? Injuries happen is sports too, you can't legislate utopia, so just stop trying. The more subjectivity you enter into the rules, the more inconsistency you get. it's not exactly rocket science either. Did or didn't he put too much weight on the QB? Why "it depends" I suppose, and I guess some people like a good mystery

You know what else we can do to prevent injuries? Not have the star baseball players run the bases? Let somebody else risk the injury of running the bases. How about adopting Little League pitch counts? A pitcher can't throw > 75 pitches. If any relief pitcher throws > 20 pitches, he needs at least one day off. 35 pitches? two days off....

Make blocking > 3 yards downfield illegal. Make blitzes illegal, adopt pro bowl rules, that'll stop injuries.

Eliminate boxing out in hoops and body checking in hockey, baddafuckingbing, fewer injuries

Your comparisons about eliminating blocking out in basketball or running the bases in mlb are just silly

I wonder how you would feel about roughing the passer penalties if some 300 pound lineman laid on brady and ended his season or career

You said we need to keep star players from getting hurt. Do you mean that or not? Are you waffling now? Either you have a foundation, a fundamental value system that enables you to reach consistent conclusions or you're just making up shit to support a conclusion you already reached. Where do you draw the line with protecting star players from injuries?

Brady's been playing a long long long time, just as many QB's have. Their careers have not been ended, have they? So what are you trying to prevent again? Something that doesn't happen?

Unnecessary roughness is illegal, was illegal, has always been illegal. Hence pile driving as always been illegal. The difference now is the ref has to decide if the 300 lb defensive lineman shifted enough of his body weight as they were falling to the ground. The rules a joke, the rule speaks for itself, and that's why the NFL was already issuing "clarifications" after 3 weeks. Nobody really understands it, coaches don't know how to coach around it, refs don't know how to call it, yet it's a point of emphasis so they have to do something

Football is a vicious sport, and injuries are part of the game just as their part of the game in NON contact sports. If Brady gets injured, he gets injured, it's something that's always possible in football. I wouldn't suggest they change the rules. I would only be pissed if it were obviously a dirty play

I made my arguments, you made yours, I tend to let people think for themselves

Roughing penalties this week?

Roughing point was made and players are aware of it.

BTW what happened with the kneeling and the National Anthem, You're Fired!

Looks like players are aware of Both penalties...….

What in the world are you talking about Willie? I never even mentioned any of these other sports. You brought them into the conversation and made outrageous claims about outlawing blocking out in basketball in order to try and make my original statement seem as crazy.

I saw browns get a first down up 8 with a minute left...thought my +3 was sealed.

I checked my phone 15min later and it was tied. I could have sworn the game was over....

I did the same. No action on the game but was watching for Coopers fantasy stats. Saw the browns got the first down and turned it off. Checked again later and saw them in OT. Had no idea what happened. Assumed a fumble

You said "we have to protect star players from getting hurt". Hence I started making analogies on how we can protect star players, and my question to you is where do you want to draw the line?

Since players get hurt playing tackle football, and you want to change the rules to protect the stars, where or when do we stop protecting the stars?

As for me, I'm opposed to the pussifying of sports, I think people who never played sports are changing too many rules about how sports should be played and I think they're ruining the games

Show me where I said "We have to protect star players from getting hurt"

You quote me so assume that's exactly what I said.......

How come you keep trying to change the narrative of what I actually said? I made one statement asking why guys would want to watch games with the star QB's out. I personally did not enjoy the packers shit show last season once Rodgers got hurt. I would rather watch one of the best ever pick defense apart then a bum backup who can barely complete a pass. You have taken my one statement about QBs in the nfl and turned it into me thinking we have to protect all star players of every sport. And that I would agree with such absurd rules such as outlawing blocking out or have baseball players not run the bases. Or that those are even close to the same thing as protecting a QB.

Words have meaning, you were clearly arguing we have to protect the QB because we can't have backups playing

Your closing was particularly interesting

Words have meaning

yea exactly

That's why there is a massive difference between what I said and how you are portraying it to fit your narrative

Let me try this one more time and im done

I believe all the crying over the roughing the passer penalties is overblown. The same folks would cry if their star QB went out and we had to watch inept backups on Sunday. I agree with protecting the QB.

That is all. Period.

I DO NOT translate that to any other sport. I DO NOT agree that baseball players should not run the bases or basketball players should not be allowed to block out.

This has NOTHING to do with the pussification of america narrative, to which I am a conservative and would have the same views as you on that subject.

That is all

Justin Cruise thinks he's a wise man. He tells us that these words do NOT mean you have to protect the star players, butt you do have to protect the QB's. Then he says just because he says you have to protect the QB's (star players to me) in football, that doesn't mean you have to protect the star players in other sports. I guess people only want to watch the stars (I mean QB's) in football.

Butt it gets better, then he says he told me this discussion was about ratings, when I thought it was about stupid roughing the passer penalties being called (silly me I suppose, I missed all that talk about ratings)

So he's really arguing this is about ratings (his words), butt he seemingly believes the only stars that matter to ratings for all sports are QB's. This guy is a contortionist who likes to argue when he should just STFU. He takes multiple sides on the issue, but doesn't know it. He's not applying his "reasoning" consistently, he simply blows with the wind, taking opposite sides when need be.

I think all these rules give a qb a safety net. take them away and they either get their ass handed to them or get rid of the ball quicker. defense should not be punished for doing their job. its bullshit in my opinion.
