Sir

This email is to inform you of our new policy.

All players who wager on props must also wager on other regular lines or the account will be closed. As of today you must wager at least 5 times your prop volume each day on other regular listed games as well.

Your account has been locked until you confirm your understanding of this with a return email.

If you wish to close your account please email us back and we will return your funds immediately.

Thanks for your understanding.

Dave Johnson

A $200 limit and 40 cent lines was not enough. I guess I should be happy since I've been getting slaughtered betting their props, but still, WTF!!!!! This is pathetic to the extreme.

Glad I bailed on them a long tie ago.

I wager mostly props and have realtively low bases limits some places ($250) but reasonable for foots ($400).

Best comment I ever received from a book was when they said my average bet was too low, I told them I was betting the on-line limit they gave me. lol.

BUt its all good.

Better shops for props I would think anyway.

now that is stupid.

If you don't want to book a bet, don't offer it. This stipulation is just ridiculous.

Wow, I just noticed that WagerWeb is an advertiser here. I hope this doesn't become a trend -- advertise on the RX and begin to slide downhill. Yikes!

It looks like they have reallly jumped the shark.

This new policy makes no sense. As D2bets pointed out, the props have a lower limits and higher juice than regular bets.

What if you bet on a game when it opens, and then bet on some props the day of the game? Why should you have to bet again on a regular bet?

By what right can a book tell you what types of action to bet on? If a book puts up a plays, YOU have the option to select which ever ones you like. You should never be forced to play something you don't want. It's YOUR money.

Finally, since Wagerweb is trying to force players to bet lower juice options, I suggest the following to any Wagerweb players that decide to remain:
DON'T BET PARLAYS OR TEASERS Just bet Straight bets.

Books make a killing on things like 3 or 4 team parlays and teasers. So, if players BOYCOTT the exotic bets and just bet Straight wagers, it will really hit the book in the wallet.

Prediction: Mass exodus of prop players or massive apology by the book.

Stupidest thing I ever heard.

You would think with the crazy juice they charge on props, they would want more action on them:think:

It seems very odd that WW would take all the time & effort to create such a vast array of props (seemed like their trademark), and then prohibit certain people from playing them.

I can understand shops taking that stance, but I guess I was just a bit under the impression that WW welcomed prop players.

Hopefully DJ can shed some light on this for us.

lander, my understanding is that the rule is not just for certain players. I was told that it was their new rule...for all players. Then again, I couldn't find the rule posted anywhere on the site and it's certainly possible they will only enforce against selected players. Then again, they implemented this after I lost like 5 of my last 6 prop plays there. So go figure.

D2bets-
Just got an advance copy of their next policy letter...

Dear Player
We have reviewed our business model and determined that it is possible for a wager to have an outcome not in our favor. After seven years in the sportsbook business, we were quite shocked to learn of this possibility.

In light of this new revelation, we are changing our rules.
1) Ties will now be graded as a LOSS.
2) Winning wagers will now be graded as PUSH.
3) Heads we win.
4) Tails you lose.
5) There will be a $10 service charge for each day you fail to place a wager.

Thank you for choosing WagerWeb, where customer deposits are our biggest asset.

LOL!

Note to the humor impaired: Just kidding.
Unfortunately, D2Bets' original post wasn't a joke.

The prop rule is for any player who opens an account with the intention of only playing props each week.

I guess it may be different with other books but we offer props as an incentive. The hold % is extremely low and the time and effort is takes to set them up and mantain is difficult. Our selection is may not be the largest but it is defintely TOP 5.

I would compare Props to a retail store that advertises sale items. Obviously, the store makes very little money off the sale of the sale items. The idea behind it is to encourage cross sales in order to make a profit off the consumer. If a store was offering sale items and they were not able to capture cross sales how long do you think they would remain in business?

We felt throwing these players out was a little too drastic. We dont want to lose their prop business. We dont want to lose any business. We just want to ensure that the players understand that if they want to take advantage of our huge bonuses, great prop offerings and overall great service they need to give us a higher percentage of their overall business and this includes straight, parlay, teaser or any other action.

I hope this doesnt offend any readers. In fact I was quite surprised by the thread. The email went out to 10 players and I only had 2 customers complain. One customer I already worked out a mutually acceptable compromise. All the emails received back were extremely professional. The majority of the players agreed to the policy and a few actually said many other books expect the same thing.

Heres an example:

"Hi Dave. I called in today in your absence and spoke to someone who said you were receiving alot of feedback on this e-mail and were determining a gameplan. I told them that since virtually all of my prop plays occur on the weekend football while I play baseball game regular lines all week that I thought it was more reasonable that we look at the big picture of a week instead of daily. I plan to give you the action you require, but on weekends I plan to play more props while all week I'll be giving you regular lines to make up for it. Does that sound OK?

In either case, please unlock my account so I can review today's wagers and place more baseball action with my vow that I will not place a single prop until I hear from you"

I worked with this player and the account remains active.

Here is another:
"I understand the rule. This is fine. Thanks"

And another:
"i understand and agree to your new policy. please activate my account. thanks"

Needless to say if 8 positive responses came back out of 10 Im sure our props department wont suffer tremendously from the new rule.

If any players have any options they would like to propose regariding this situation I woulod be happy to hear them. I am always willing to listen to any good ideas. Email them to me direct at dave@wagerweb.com

You as always are welcome to your opinion. However, I hope readers will remember your opinion is biased since you are an ex employee.

Please keep in mind that the single most important thing to me is to keep my book profitable. A profitable book always pays their players. Some players will lose and others will win. Both groups are always welcome to play at Wagerweb. I just expect the ones that win to give us the same respect that we give them and work to follow the rules.

Thanks

I would compare Props to a retail store that advertises sale items.

Once agin -- YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!! The props are not sale items, they are retail items. How are these sale items when they carry 40 cents juice vs. 20 cent juice for most straight plays? Please enlighten the class if you would.

I have seen many things offshore, but I still must say this is the first instance I have EVER heard of a shop telling players which lines they can and cannot bet and how much they need to bet of one type of play in order to bet another. If you can show any other book doing this in any way I am all ears.

My compromise offer is let me play anything you offer, for up to your stated maximums. Period. I have not received a deposit since my initial deposit long ago. This is not even an issue. I don't feel like I should have to be adding up my prop plays, multiplying by 5 and then figuring out which straight bets I am forced to wager on. That's just ludicrous.

I would suggest to play somewhere else then. If you dont like a policy that a book has in place then dont play there.

Its pretty simple.

We are sorry to lose you as a player. Good Luck wherever you play.

We are not 40 cent lines on our props. All college/NFL props are 30 cent lines and have been all year.

Dave, the policy wasn't in place until yesterday. Be that as it may, I realize that you can implement whatever policies you wish, it's your shop. It is still very bush league, though, and rather perplexing.

And I was referring to the baseball props which I played, all were 40 cents I believe (with $200 limit). I don't think I played any football props.

hilarious.

"hi welcome to arby's, can i take your order?"

"do you have the 5 regulars for $5.00 special going?"

"yes we do".

"ok, i'd like 5 regulars please"

"no problem sir. now, our policy effective today is that, in order to get the 5 regulars for $5.00, you must order 25 regular curly fries or 25 deli sandwiches".

"you can't be serious"

"hey, that's our policy. you don't like it...go to mcdonalds".
