I mean if people are raised in a culture to kill humans, are you more forgiving of that person when he does kill humans? <!-- / message -->

this comment should get us to the RR..

this is exactly what youth in the middle east (not everywhere) are being taught...hate america, hate americans, kill americans that is OK..Even though it is being taught as the culture doesn't make it right..

Here's the difference between the 2, at least for me. Stallworths' incident was an accident, pure and simple. Over the limit or not, 99.9% of this accident was the fault of the guy who got run over. If Stallworth had blown just under .08, I don't think he would have been charged with anything. What Vick did on the other hand, even though they were dogs, was intentional, deliberate, malicious, savage and heinous. This wasn't a one time incident. This cruelty to animals went on for 6/7 years. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in these 2 cases for many reasons and Vicks case is by far much worse than Stallworths.

Kind of disagree here 70. Drinking in a bar and then getting behind the wheel of a car is not an accident. Hitting the man and killing him was an accident but the action leading to the crime is not an accident. You may be right that the man was at fault but is there a chance Stallworth could've reacted differently had he been totally sober? Maybe.

I understand that one incident took place in a matter of 30 seconds however I believe the killing of a human being is 2x as worse as the killing of any animal. Just my .02 worth but you make a valid argument.

Well, this entire discussion is a difficult one because people get very emotional about their dogs. I love my dog but I don't get too emotional over her. I know someday she will die and when that happens I will bury her and move on. Such is life but this is not a black and white issue making it very difficult to discuss.

definitely. I love my pup too but a human and a dog have to be on a different scale. no matter what the situation is IMO

I'm as big an animal lover as there is, and as bad as I hate to admit it, I feel worse for animals vs humans in many cases of abuse because a person at least has a chance to defend themselves in most cases.

Once I let my Chitzu out to go to the bathroom, and someone was walking alongside the road, and he ran out there just barking. A car with some guys in it came by and just drove right over him, clearly seeing him. Why? Because it was a 25mph zone and they were actually going that or less! I picked him up, took him inside, got my baseball bat, and went looking for the car just down the road. Luckily for myself I suppose, that I couldn't find them.

HOWEVER.....I mentioned this in another thread and I know this may seem like a terrible comparison but this is how I see it.

Go to youtube and check out the videos of how the chinese & Koreans torture & butcher dogs, and you will see that Michael Vick is actually as Saint.

I really hate the arguement that it's different because they eat the dogs as we eat other animals.
For one, even if they do, they don't have to treat them as cruely as they do before they butcher them, which you may have seen or could see if you take my advice & check it out.
Secondly, I don't care what ANYONE says about different cultures and other people thinking WE may be the discusting ones by eating chickens, cows, etc. , because none of those animals attatch to you, trust you, and actually fall in love with you as an owner as a dog. No comparison at all.......

And I would play devil's advocate and ask why your dog is off a leash and near the road.

haha...... I should know by now not to bite with you, but good question Fuego

Actually, we had only been staying at that house for about 2 weeks, and was renting until we got into one we were buying.

Where we were staying before had a fence, and when i let him in the front did have a leash that just clipped on and tied down so he could only go so far.

I was outside with him this time, and it all happened so slowly, as the guy walked by, and the little dog just kind of went out there to him and barked, not really after him. He got in the road a little while he barked, and this was a residential area/road, and that's what makes it so bad because the guys in the car were actually going the speed limit/so slow! They just did it on purpose.....

Quick question I am hoping someone can answer which I can't find the answer to...

The Stallworth incident happened around 7:15am. So had he crashed after a night of drinking, then woke up and drove? Or was he up until then drinking, and then just took off?

I found this article that says he left the club shortly before 5AM,went home but couldn't sleep so then leaves home to go out for breakfast just after 7AM,then the accident occurs.

I am not one to compare 2 seperate incidents. Not sure why people insist on doing that. I will just look at this incident.

He left the club at 5am and appeared then to be sober. Another 2 hours pass. A man walks across a busy intersection and he accidentely hits him. Something that could have happened whether he was sober or not. I am perfectly fine with the sentence he was given. Especially being that the entire family was fine with the sentence given. And that is what should really matter.

i'm fine with it too!!! i really don't care and i hope mercy would be shown on me! i just got pissed off when three 300 pound philly woman were hating on vick and he spent two yrs. I really like mercy on all levels and i think people people should show mercy. i know the dogs didn't get a second chance. How many chances did the world give micheal jackson?
i just hate double standards. Mercy is fine for stallworth, i just think vick served his time for killing Pit bulls

I think Vick served his time. I also initially thought that Stallworth's accident was very unlucky. Then I saw Michael Smith's interview with Stallworth.
Stallworth said he flicked his lights and honked his horn, and said it took maybe two seconds. Then Smith mentioned that there were no skid marks.
Wtf...seems like he had more than enough time to react. How about changing lanes or slamming on the brakes.
