Couldn't disagree more. Nothing unlucky about the score. If it weren't for Anthony carrying them, they'd be down 15. He is the only reason this is even a game right now. He has taken the next step in this tournament.

Oh C'mon all the stupid avoidable mistakes the US have made in this game? Like with the 4pt play. And Wade missing Dunk after Dunk..

The U.S. settling for 3-pointer after 3-pointer, and getting torched time and time again on backdoors and switches on screens was considered "unlucky." My fault.

Guess Greece was "unlucky" that Anthony decided to have the best outside-shooting night of his life today, right? Everything's "unlucky."

Listen to Frischilla, he's telling it like it is. Most impartial analyst there is, having spent a ton of time overseas over the past decade scouting international basketball.

Royboy,

American hoop is in the toilet, and I put most of the blame on the american hoop fans.

while it's hard to argue greece is the better team rail, i don't know if usa hoops is "in the toilet", but it certainly doesn't look good.... i think this team could really use Kobe's killer instinct, maybe that will make the difference...

Was waiting for you to get in this thread, Railbird. Knew you'd be watching this shit.

Agree about the American hoops fans. U.S. and world going in completely opposite directions. Blame the streetball phenomenon, blame the coddling and hype of young basketball players and the underdevelopment of work ethic and fundamentals.

USA was unlucky to catch a HOT Greece team.. If these teams play 10 times USA wins 8.

Keep making excuses for why the U.S. lost. Typical biased American mentality, make excuses for why we're not #1. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

That 14-18 Greece knocked down in the 3rd was a product of beautifully-run offense coupled with skilled players taking advantage of porous defense. Of course, if the Americans had gotten that hot, it would've been because they're just the best, right?

U.S. goes 8-29 from three...Greece had a perfect strategy against us, let us settle for 3's(which we did), and with no great shooters on the team, systemically killed ourselves. Without Anthony's hot shooting, this would've been a beating.

To not give Greece it's due after this game is an absolute injustice. And I guarantee you that tomorrow, when you read Chris Sheridan's analysis for why the U.S. lost, you won't read a thing about Greece getting lucky. You'll read all about how they got taken advantage of and how Greece exploited the U.S. weaknesses, namely outside shooting and poor pick-and-roll defense.

I'm done.

What are you saying? Non-sense IMO.. This is basketball upsets happen all the time. You can twist shit up all you want to make it sound like you know exactly why the US lost. You can use your big words and make it sound great, but there is no need for it cause what happened was obvious Greece shot 63% and somehow outscored the US Today. And thanks for calling me ignorant..

Greece was the better team today I'll give them that. They definitely shot better and had better overall teamwork (main reason I think they won). As far as this game goes, I don't understand why USA didn't go big at some point in the 4th quarter? Greece pretty much got whatever they wanted without much resistance and that small lineup they were using (James was the tallest man on the court) was quite odd. I was thinking Howard should have came in considering the easy dunks he was getting early in the game.

I'm not here to make excuses for why the USA lost, they just got outplayed today but in my opinion (and it's just an opinion) if this game was played 10 times, USA would be able to win at least 7 of them. I'm not trying to take away anything from Greece as they definitely deserve to be in the gold medal game, I just think that USA would be the best team internationally if they had the time to gel together and get more accustomed to team play (you have to remember that every one of them is the star of their respective NBA team for the most part).

I think this team would be pretty damn tough to beat if they played together better. Just my two cents.

Come on does USA really care about this with all the $ their making in the NBA. It looks like their heads were not in the game! Who like's Argentina to beat Spain? Ginobili will be tough to stop should win by 10pts!

What is wrong with you? Greece didn't kill the USA. USA shot 59% from the Free Throw Line while Greece shot 63% from the field.. USA unfortuantely caught a HOT Greece team while simultaneously playing on a night where Free Throws didn't drop..

It looked to me like they were trying pretty hard. Only problem was that they had no teamwork and the chemistry of Greece was 10 times better than USA. If USA had half the chemistry these international teams have, they would be pretty tough to beat.

Greece was shooting lights out. If this was a best of 7 series like they use in the playoffs, there is no doubt in my mind USA would win the series. Adjustments would be made and Greece would not be able to match up with USA athletically.
