Holy cow, when is the team being put for sale?

Wow, i can believe the drop in the prices.

Aubrey McLendon is reportedly desperately seeking a buyer for his stake in the Thunder. He is also having to sell of all of his land that he bought in the Michigan dunes. He was planning to level the dunes and build a master planned community, but now he can't afford to develop the land.

Adios, Aubrey! :howdy:

Yes, it is a great place to live.

Now if you are a big sports fan..it has sucked this year. Very depressing stuff.

Also, you don't want to be here from about November through March or so. The constant drizzle and cloudiness will get you down big time. So much so, that a professor from the UW found a clinical form of depression and anti-social behavior for those living in the area, called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

The rest of the year it can't be beat by very many places in the U.S.

What is the coldest it gets on average in the Sea-Tac area?

Right around 20%.

You may find some articles that state he is the majority owner and that Clay Bennett is only there because he has knowledge of the NBA. Those articles are inaccurate and simply are passing along a rumor that was started last summer.

The greater Seattle area has large variances in elevation, even within a mile or two. It is basically a bunch of micro-climates slammed into a 70 square mile area.

Seattle itself rarely gets very cold. Usually stuck in the mid to upper 30's for lows throughout the winter season, with highs in the low to mid 40's. Just a few miles outside of the city you will find it a couple degrees colder.

I live only about 20 miles from the city, and there have been times where the temperature here is 5-10 degrees colder than that of the city.

That said, Seattle see's a couple days a year with wet snow that virtually shuts down the city. People here are not good drivers in ice and snow. Out where I live, we get more snow than Seattle..usually about 1-1.5 feet per year, while Seattle itself only gets a couple of inches.

Two years ago we had almost two feet in a day in my area and it was impossible to go anywhere for three days straight. Seattle only ended up with like 4-5 inches of snow.

no way they go undefeated. they are not strong enough on defense. they will lose against teams that come close to matching them athletically and play defense. I think they lose at Wake, who is extremely talented, and can match them athletically. I can see them slipping up at least 2 or 3 times, and when it comes down to it again in the NCAA tournament. They just give up too much on the defensive end

Seen wake already 3 times this year, not a chance. Dont think they will come close to duke or miami either

Im a homer so laugh it up. I dont see them going undefeated just cause of the ACC. I see them possibly losing at Miami if they can keep their guys on the court. May even slip up in the tourney. Best team out there by far though, too many teams to go undefeated right UNLV fans??

Railbird told me USC can beat the Detroit Lions....I almost believe him...

USC's defense MIGHT be as good as Detroit's. Detroit's offense would still be able to move the ball on them. Probably with ease.

But USCs offense STILL wouldn't be able to move the ball against Detroit's defense.

If they played. The final score would be:

35-0 Detroit.

This is one of the stupidest questions I've heard here. Do you guys realize that if you put UNC's entire roster in the NBA right now that there is a good chance that NONE of them would be starters. Hansbrough is not an NBA starter, Ellington and Lawson might be in time, but not yet they're not. Nobody else would even get any significant playing time off the bench most likely. They are flat out DOMINATING college basketball, no doubt about it, BUT they could not compete with any NBA team, not even OKC. OKC would be -28 maybe vs UNC and they would cover with absolute ease. OKC would win by 40 points easily, as long as they kept on playing the whole game and didn't give up like a lot of teams do with a huge lead. Hansbrough would get manhandled down low, and I'm a bit Psycho T fan. I love his work ethic and his energy, but he is not an NBA guy. He will get out muscled all game long.

UNC currently has ZERO (0) players projected to be lottery picks for the NBA, but yeah, they could compete with a professional basketball team...

Agree. OKC has 3 players that were better in college than UNCs players. Green, Durant and Westbrook. I don't think anyone on here thinks that UNC could win.

Very stupid question. The Thunder could win by 50+. I doubt they would though, as professionals would get no joy beating up on college kids.

99, it was Duke that was unbeatable

04, Georgia Tech felt the wrath

09, it's UNC's turn (maybe I hope)

Every five years, the maker of men ruins an ACC Team's dream

:pope:

and no, every NBA team would destroy UNC.

Actually, UConn has a powerful historic NCAA presence dating back to 1948 when the men's soccer team won. There was drought for a few years broken by a breakthrough in 1981 by the women's field hockey champions. In that same remarkable year, 1981, the mens soccer juggernaut again triumphed. In 1985 the UConn womens field hockey team won another championship along with a womens basketball championship. I'm respectful of all RX NCAA opinions and predictions, but especially enjoy the wisdom that flows south from such a traditional NCAA powerhouse.

I would take UNC +50 against the Thunder for the max.

If they were to play, honestly with no bias the Thunder would probably beat them .. but certainly not by 50 points! More like 15-30 max.

In the first quarter...

You're not getting that UNC might not have one player that would start on OKC. The only thing that would stop the Thunder from winning by over 50 would be themselves not wanting to embarrass college kids. If they wanted though, they would cover a 50 point spread with ease. Just wait until this team has Blake Griffin next year also.

OKC will be VERY good in a few years. Tons of young talent.

Thankfully, they won't be.

Gaylord Entertainment Co. (GET) At 4:01PM ET: 7.11 2.08 DOWN (22.63%) July Price $35.00
SandRidge Energy, Inc. (SD) At 4:04PM ET: 7.54 1.32 DOWN (14.90%) July Price $69.41
Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) At 4:06PM ET: 15.00 2.18 DOWN (12.69%) July Price $74.00

Clay Bennett’s family owns GET. Clay is the fourth-largest shareholder in Chesapeake and the fourth- or fifth-largest in SandRidge. Aubrey McLendon WAS the largest investor in CHK. He sold 31M shares and reportedly still owes $100M in margin calls. Tom Ward is the president and largest shareholder of SD and also the second-largest (before McClendon sold) holder of CHK.

------------

Now, how will they ever be able to afford Kevin Durant when his contract is up. And even if they could, why would he want to stay in Oklahoma City, when he could elect to go to a larger market, most likely get paid more, get more exposure, and as a result transform himself into a more marketable figure.

As far as them having young talent, I will admit they have several solid players who could become big later on in their careers, besides the obvious - Durant. Jeff Green and Russel Westbrook are the bright lights on this team.

If you think that guys like Nick Collison, Earl Watson, Damien Wilkins, Johan Petro, Robert Swith, and Mouhamed Sene will ever been anything to write home about, you need to reevaluate what they have done since joining the league. They are bench players at best (which they have showed so far this season .. see: Earl Watson, Nick Collison). Robert Swift is actually a semi-solid player, but due to countless injuries he hasn't be able to develop much beyond what he was before he came to the NBA..besides improve his strength and agressiveness. He still needs to spend a lot of time working on his game around the hoop..he looks completely lost at times. And on Sene, don't even get me started. He is the result of what you get drafting blindly out of a "high school" in Africa..which many have said was the equivalent of Jr High School (in America) basketball talent.

I could go on for days, I have followed this team extensively (read: every single day) since all of these guys have joined the team. They will not be a .500 team for a very, very long time. This is the result of reckless management and internal issues with the team which have been documented in the past.

Will they win less than 9 games this season to become the worst team (record wise) to play in the NBA. Probably not, they should end up somewhere in the mid-teen's, but could easily be held to 10-14 wins. As a team with a bunch of young talent, shouldn't we be seeing at least a small improvment over last year, or at the very least the play staying the same. Instead, it has decreased from last season, not something you should be seeing with young talent that should steadily be improving as time goes on.

:think2:

Not sure where this one is going. I was referring to mens basketball and the last 10 years, but if you want to talk about NCAA Championships

MBB two since 1999
WBB five since 1995

In addition to the men's soccer, women's soccer & field hockey titles you listed, men's soccer won another title as recently as 2000. Now that doesn't mean we're championship U, but we sure do hold our own.

Anyhow, the point of my post was to say UConn will be a team that could surprise UNC come March (or April). I'm pretty sure Duke was the unbeatable lock just 10 seasons ago. Lots of locks go down.
