[h=3]Atlanta at PHILADELPHIA (-110)[/h][h=4]By Chris Jordan, Featured Handicapper[/h]There are going to be tough times in this racket, trust me.
And right now is one of those times.
Nonetheless, there's always a silver lining. And since Nov. 12, 2016, my $1 players have made $59,476. That's after Sunday's 1000♦ Winner on the Mets Run Line (+120) and last night's 600♦ setback on the Dodgers Run Line. Money management has me ahead the last two nights.
Now I start the betting week by putting some of that money to work in baseball.
I love one play tonight, and it's best blowout on the card.
The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies just played at the end of the April, and we saw this same pitching matchup during that series: Vince Velasquez, and Brandon McCarthy, and now the Phils are at home.
I'm listing both as I think Velasquez is getting revenge.
Velasquez will have no trouble building on a string of three strong starts to get this win. Last Thursday he tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings against St. Louis. The right-hander has a 2.07 ERA in three May starts, but it's the loss he took in his last outing versus the Braves on April 18.
He'll have the Braves guessing tonight.
With McCarthy, who looked good in commanding his sinker and cutter more consistently to halt a two-start slumber with six strong innings he completed against the Cubs last Wednesday. Yes, he's pitched into the sixth and won both of his two starts against Philadelphia this year, but he's going to stumble tonight.
Take the Phils tonight.
2* PHILLIES (Velasquez over McCarthy)
