I wouldn't be so quick to label Tubby as a Gopher savior. He has to deal with the stigma that Minnesota is a 2nd tier CBB program. He also has to deal with the facilities possibly not being up to par. I know the football facilities aren't but that is being addressed.

He also has to really dig in & get better at recruiting again. I don't care who you are, but if you don't recruit top players, you are not accomplishing much.

gotta think UK will take a look at Nevada's head coach, Mark Few, maybe even a Leonard Hamilton someone that can recruit serious athletes.

dsethi,

Hamilton is a very good recruiter but is a very bad in-game coach. Hamilton is a worse coach than Tubby was so Kentucky fans will be extremely irate after watching some of his in-game management skills. Also, let's not forget that he is black and I highly doubt UK will higher back to back black head coaches with their fan base the way it is. Who's the dude at Southern Illinois whose phone I'm sure is ringing off the hook? Also, why not go with a guy like Bruce Pearl who can rejuvenate the program.

slow down. One step at a time. Look at the positive. His name, credentials, and reputation alone is a huge step in the right direction for the gophs.

Journey, you need to read up on some gopher basketball history.

Yeah, why don't you tell me what Minnesota has done in the last 35 years? I know CBB very well, you seriously think Minnesota is a power house CBB school?

Let's see , from the Big ten last 35 years, ranking the schools...

Indiana clearly better than Min (multi champion)
Purdue clarly better than Min
Mich St clearly better than Min (mutli champion)
Mich clearly better than Min (champions)
Iowa better than Min
Wisc arguable I suppose.

How many Final Four's has Mnnesota been in since 1970?

The Final Four trip doesn't even count. Minnesota had to forfeit it and three tourney appearances for major recruiting violations.

What a great coach Pitino is, it crossed my mind...Kentucky is the job of jobs in CBB.

That's my point Journeyman. I'd say Pitino is in the TOP 3 best coach coaching today. I always admired the guy. He tried doing his thing in the NBA and everyone knows how that worked out, but in college hoops, he is a mastermind. He literally BUILT L'Ville out of dirt into a legitimate contender for the past few years. I don't think there would be ANY question as to whether or not UK would take him, but that if IF he wants to go back there. I think it would be very sweet to say the least if he goes back there, build UK back into a powerhouse it once was, and retire as a UK coach and go out like Wooden, Dean, and the rest of the hall of fame coaches. That would be awesome.

I make a post calling Minnesota a second teir CBB school (which they are)

and I'm told I don't know what I'm talking about, unbelievable.

90 teams have been to the tournamnet more times than the Gophers.:drink:

I may have given them too much credit calling them second teir .

Nice call Dro3 . :aktion033

Did you know Minnesota is 8th in the Big Ten in Ncaa appearances (9), just ahead of Penn State (8)?

8th best CBB school in the Big Ten, just like I said 2nd teir.

Because you can't say anything...this is not even a debate...I've wasted enough time making you look silly.

8th best school in Big Ten CBB....why you decided to pick an argument over this is silly and ridiculous.

I think UK is done with hiring black coaches. One and Done.
