HOU @ NYM under 7.5
According to my st. pitcher/ game umpire power ratings, this game looks a lot like the Wednesday game between these two squads. And on Wednesday, only 5 runs were scored, on 14/65 hitting (.215). Pettitte and Glavine already faced each other this season and that game flied over the total (12 runs), and I can hardly see this matchup going over the total two straight times in a pitcher friendly ballpark like the Shea Stadium. Both Pettitte and Glavine were solid in that game, allowing a combined total of 4 er in 11.1 ip, but the bullpens screwed the 'under' in that game, allowing 8 runs in 5.2 ip. Since then, both Pettitte and Glavine have been very solid, especially lately, as Pettitte allowed only 1 er in last two starts (13 ip), while Glavine allowed only 2 er in his last two starts (13.2 ip). Both bullpens improved since april, and both are on fire right now. The NYM bullpen allowed only 1 er in last 13.1 ip (6+ games) and the Astro bullpen has been just as good recently, allowing just 3 er in last 21 ip, since that ugly home loss to the Reds (0-9) in which the pen allowed 7 runs in the top of the ninght. Pettite is 3-0 under the total on the road, when facing another lefty starter, since his matchup vs Glavine.
This will be my only play today.
Good luck all,
WS
