SYLVESTER YOLY - Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Undeniably on edge for a good one today. Likes to go to the front end and the fact that today is a shorter distance should help. She finished second June 7th, but was well clear of the show horse. It looks like Leon had to learn about this mare on June 7th when riding her for the initial time. Back on again today. A repeat of that last race on Jun 7th where she registered a speed rating of 52 looks high enough to win in this affair.

Never made much of an impact.

HAY SEEKER - You'll be making money right and left by turning your bankroll onto this rider/trainer combination. Racing at a similar level as last race on April 20th at Penn National. I think Stites has found a good spot for him, and I like his chances in today's race. You have to really like that latest race speed figure, 92, which is the top most recent race speed figure of this field. YOUR ALL THAT - Beattie seems to have this gelding primed for a big effort. His workout pattern is tremendous.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SPEIGHTSHILL (ML=3/1), #3 BURNING MANDATE (ML=6/1), #8 RUN FOR ZACH (ML=6/1),

SPEIGHTSHILL - Generally I need a sprinter to have some success lately in short distance contests in order to wager on him. BURNING MANDATE - Just can't play this racer. Didn't show me anything positive last time around the track or on Sep 14th. Should have at least finished in the money in the last two months in a sprint event to be worth the risk at modest odds in a sprint. RUN FOR ZACH - A pattern of decreasing Equibase speed figures 84/81/11 for this steed. Tough to take this horse at the odds after the result (sixth) in the last affair.

I'll take my chances here with Minnesota in Thursday's matchup at Chicago. The Twins have lost the first two games of the series and are going to be desperate for a win here to avoid getting swept. This is definitely a game they can and should win, as the White Sox will send out struggling starter Lucas Giolito, who comes in with an awful 7.01 ERA and 1.596 WHIP in 15 starts. For whatever reason, Giolito has been at his worse when he starts at home. Giolito has a 9.91 ERA and 1.872 WHIP in 8 home starts. He's also just 1-3 with a 8.51 ERA and 1.603 WHIP in 5 day starts. Look for Minnesota offense to put up a big number here and that should be enough to get the win behind starter Jake Odorizzi. Give me the Twins -129!

It might be tempting to take Tunisia (0-0-2) in this match given their fine showing in their first match of this tournament in their narrow 2-1 loss to England where they endured a heartbreaking second goal in the second-half stoppage time. But the Eagles of Carthage have not won a match in a World Cup in forty years. Tunisia is 0-4-9 in their last thirteen World Cup matches going back to 1978. And this team is loaded with injuries which severely impacted their defense in their 5-2 loss to Belgium on Saturday.
