Can you get decent $$ down on sports in Tahoe?

Yes, but perhaps not quite as much as Vegas.

To be honest, have not did an abundance amount of sports wagering in the Lake Tahoe/Reno area, so others will be able to give you a more detailed reply.

Nothing different!

NO WAY does it come to a vote in the Senate.

IF IT DOES, NO WAY IT PASSES.

IF it does, NO WAY they go after: the little guy AND the ISP's AND BANKS AND foreign entities(at best they use it to get trade & other concessions from other countries) AND block internet traffic to those sites WITHOUT THE SUPREMES NIXING THAT.

NO WAY DOES THE REST OF THE WORLD STAND FOR IT: The US Government would need to block both financial transaction & internet access to all the participating foreign financial and bet-taking institutions, forums & other industry sites.

IT'S JUST NOT FEASIBLE TO BLOCK EVERYTHING, including internet proxies & other workarounds.

IF IT DOES, NO WAY THE SUPREMES LET IT STAND: so many aspects of it would be unconstitutional or technically illegal-- free speech, personal liberties like eavesdropping & illegal search and seizure, unfair restraint of trade, past precedent, etc.

NO WAY THE PUBLIC STANDS FOR IT-- even if late in the process like in Prohibition...after witnessing law enforcement excesses.

If this was done with enough teeth, overnight we would become an isolated Stalinist state.

There are just not that many stupid or uncaring people in the US for all that to come to fruition-- NO WAY.

But, like i always hedge my bets whenever possible-- IF i'm wrong, i'll move to in the following order: an Indian reservation, Canada, Latin America / Caribbean, British Commonwealth country, Europe.

You live in a country which has the Patriot act. The public is SHEEP. Enough proof of it over the past 5 years.

the "sheep" as you call it are getting a little tired of this "world cop" bullshit the Bush administration has been pulling for years. It's all coming together(falling apart) in his lap now.

I don't believe that BB. No matter who wins next election, your freedoms are lost and you'll lose more and more every year for the false pretence of safety, crime fight etc. it's already too late.

Why is that funny???

It is my HOME STATE and home to the Hawkeyes..........but just as important is that it has MANY, MANY avenues for the gambler with its many riverboat casinos, indian reservations, and horse tracks.

Also, have hundreds and hundreds of family and friends that live there.

Didn't know it was your home state. I just thought that it looked like a wierd place in comparison to your other spots.

If the bill becomes law, at first, I will wait and see how it effects online gambling. There is no doubt that volume the books now receive will be affected. What effect this has on the lines and the juice is most important. If need be, I will move out of the country. I'd be better off financially anyway as I won't have to pay taxes on my winnings.

If this anti-gaming bill passes what are your plans? I am trying to ignore the fact, but I have come to the conclusion I need a back up plan, just in case.

I am hoping to get 2 more years out of it. If that's the case, I will be good to go.

Anyone have a plan?

BB

my plan is not to change a thing.
no way in hell the feds will be able to enforce this.
i don't understand why so many people are scared about this.

If someone can make a living betting, why the heck would they want to go back to being an 8-to-5er, working for someone else likely...makes ZERO sense

A LOT more fun doing this all day long (and this is coming from someone WHO DOESNT make a living gambling, but dreams of the day where they can) :103631605

BB and fish if you were to move, where do you think it would be to

I think I'd look into Ireland or Scotland. The pipes are calling me.

Someone asked "What's wrong with getting a "guaranteed" income with a normal job?" Two things...no one pays you anything these days and nothing is guaranteed. There's about 25,000 Ford Motor Company workers who thought their 50 or 60 dimes a year was guaranteed. Now they're ghosts with a resumee (again). As long as someone else is signing your paychecks, nothing is guaranteed. The biggest risk you can take in your life is to NOT pursue your dreams. Down with economic slavery.

I love your thinking here. You have to look at yourself as your own money making company. Getting a paycheck isn't the way to go as these companies, even if they have been here for decades, will still cut you off without notice. Plus look at the Enron employees who were going to retire in the next few years before the scandal. You are talking about 6 figure 401k/retirement plans that are washed out. I can't imagine the stress I would feel if I was in their shoes.

You have to make your own money. Now I am a paycheck guy right now but I am always looking for something that I can do on my own part time with the hope it brings a full time pay someday. Then when I get that dreaded (IF that is) pink slip I can shake my bosses hand and RUN out the door and know that I am going to be alright.

most gamblers are not afraid of getting prosecuted under any new law, but rather, the chilling effect it will have on the entire industry (which is currently awash in liquidity). No longer will the industry be able to aford bonuses, multiple outs for scapling opportunites, reliable third-tier books, etc. Without a healthy industry, it will slowly die, or at very best, the survivors will be charging -110 juice (or worse) with clone lines and no reup bonuses.

First off I am not quitting unless it becomes impossible or until they are arresting gamblers in mass. If that happens I would first consider moving out of the country if there is still online poker available (still a ton of Euros and Aussies that play). If not I will move to a casino state and play at B&Ms though that would suck in a big way. No way am I going back to $15 an hour being somebody's slave.
