that's where we disagree though GoBlue..

Singling someone out like that isn't good for the forum... Why should anyone post picks here if there's a chance if they lose, people will go put in their signature how badly they are doing... its not like this person is a tout selling picks... Why should someone post threads here when everytime they something they get jumped about how stupid they are...

In this specific case, it's not like JC ever posted anything that was even close to malicious (in terms of the original subject content). He wasn't a racist, and I don't think anyone including you would say he was a bad person. He was just an easy target....

I'm not saying we all have to hold hands but what happened with JC was out of control, and wasn't good for the forum. Again, i'm not saying he shouldn't have been called on some of the things, in a lot of cases he was asking for opinion and got it, but IMO, this turned into a "mob mentality" against him, and why should he ever post here again when that's the case... That was my problem with the thread.. (<)<

Defying it never fails.

Anytime you have a high traffic thread in the offshore it increases the traffic of all the other threads in that same forum.

I noticed that the entire offshore forum in general yesterday had a traffic bump in all the other threads because of the JC thread yesterday.

I remember when Jag had his famous stiff thread the entire offshore forum was buzzing those few days.

A high traffic thread in the offshore forum has a wave effect that lifts all the other threads in the forum.

Just look at your traffic numbers anytime there is a busy thread in the offshore.
It lifts all the other threads to.

Its kind of like in the TV business with a lead in show.

Back when Seinfeld or American Idol were huge whatever tv show the networks would put on immediately before or after those shows would get an automatic boost just for the simple fact people watching Seinfeld or American Idol were still watching or about to watching those shows.

This is the #1 reason the Jay Leno primetime slot was a disaster for NBC.
Jay would come on right before all the local late night news broadcast.

All the local NBC networks were getting killed in the ratings because Jay Leno was lagging all the other big network lead shows.

People need to quit looking at a busy thread as just one thread.
A busy thread lift the entire sub forum.

Everything is organic in the forum world.

Promise this is my final post on the matter....

but I agree, I noticed how busy it was in the Offshore yesterday, and even the day before... You're exactly right that "everything is organic in the forum world ", again well said.

However, what if JC never post again because of that thread... I am not saying him being here is essential to success but it wouldn't be worth the tradeoff if he's gone forever, and if I was him I wouldn't return either. It went too far, and isn't the job of the Moderators to prevent that from happening? I didn't move that thread, but in hindsight I wish I would have much sooner. This is the main point I wanted to make.

The offshore is a different animal than the rest of the forum. This is more of a fraternity than the rest of the forum. We all "know" each other more than those that strictly post in the sub-sports forums. Because of this, it's not always easy for a new person to break through an become a regular poster this part of the RX.

JC was a lightening rod, in my opinion, the best kind we could have. He wasn't hear to be a shock jock or offend anyone. Like I said, I don't think he ever had malicious intent or subject matter. And I'd hate to push him or anyone else away from the OS.

I've always felt that the Offshore is the best part of theRX, I've always, even at its busiest wish it more popular. It's not. In fact, the traffic in the OS, is no where near indicative of how the forum is doing in its entirety.

what was out of control
the guy went apeshit for no reason and I'd be willing to bet clicked on the 'report post' button on pretty much every negative response he received.

All the negative shit JC receives is great for the forum IMO. Thank you JC.

You don't want to be called stupid, don't post stupid shit. Or post locks. Or say there's no way IU can not win the national championship. Then call out other posters when they disagree. Or remind everyone you had a 3.8 GPA when you graduated from a middling university 6 years ago.

What's funny is you're trying to protect JC so he doesn't leave, and the people who would likely be most saddened by his departure are those of us who love reading his ridiculous posts.

In the past month I received exactly 1 report a post from JC, and it was about the suicide argument. He was thicker skinned than you give him credit for.

So in his 1 report a post, it wasn't even a direct attack against him...

it s always real quiet this time of year, I remember hearing the numbers were really high last football season, I think people are worried for nothing. I'm sure they ll get the point thing going soon in time for football, the combination of the 2 will be a big draw in my opinion.

How about starting an early sign up for the RX forum version of the LVH supercontest like last year I missed the boat on. People who pay early could get a discount on the $150 entry fee using RX points. It should spark plenty of interest over the next couple of months, and may make for a big prize pool. Just a thought.

this is a common theme (outside of BAS) - mods thinking that people disagreeing with them means they don't like them. I hardly even know who the mods are here, let alone if I like them or not. All i know is Murphy uses 'brah' alot which is dumb as shit and that defying has a wife who moves for work a lot and is trying to rework his 401k or something. no idea who anyone else is outside of BAS. hell Enfuego could be a mod and i wouldn't know.

that I will say was one of Wil's strengths - didn't seem like he gave 2 shits who liked him or not. he put up with a lot of shit that I and other posters put him through just for the hell of it.

For the record, I'm not :).

Then oh well, who gives a shit? This forum has never been about one poster. It's a community and if one guy leaves, another will take his place.

That is true. I remember that Jaguara controversy brought life to the forum for a few days. They shouldn't have banned him.

I think they should have kept him around for a bit longer if anything or somehow forced him to pay.

Numbers don't lie. The topics on the main board are by the same 5 people.

so king, it appears that this thread has garnered 5 pages in 2 days, and with more than just 5 posters. Either you are wrong, or your thread worked to capture the hearts and minds of the forum posters...

either way, good job. good thread to create this conversation (although we still have some kinks to work out)

cheers

You guys want drama go watch tmz or follow a celeb. WTF this is a sports forum. Half the people complaining about the forum are not ever talking about sports, bets or do anything other than complaining....
