This pisses me OFF the way I was treated by WagerStreet ...

Let me get my thoughts together ... I've been playing with WagerStreet for just over a month and a half, if memory serves me correctly. All has been well up until yesterday.

On Monday, February 10, 2004, I made a small play on the Utah Jazz + 7 vs. Portland Trailblazers (NBA Overnight line) for $400.00. On Tuesday, February 11, 2004, I made an even smaller play on Portland - 4 - 120. Was I trying to middle? Of course. Absolutely. Why not? The $400.00 play won, and the $120.00 play (juice) lost. Tuesday, sometime during the day, I received an e-mail saying my bonus had been removed, because professional players, steam players or wise guys are not offered bonuses. That's fine with me. But what they didn't tell me is my wagering limit had been reduced to $200.00 per game. If I wanted to wager more than $200.00 per game, I had to get approval. I understand it's there book and they can do business as they choose, but at least notify me in writing that my limit has been reduced.

Tonight, Wednesday, February 12, 2004, I made several wagers, some for the entire game and some for the second half. What gets me is, I was approved to wager $300.00 on some games in the 2nd half, but only $200.00 on some games in the 2nd half as well. The games that I was denied a wager on for $300.00 or more (after waiting for approval), I could wager $200.00 on them, only after the line had moved. In other words, I had tipped my hand.

2 games that stand out ... Michigan vs. Minnesota (2nd half wager - WSTREET had Michigan - 3). I placed a wager on Minnesota + 3 for the 2nd half for $200.00 at 9:02 p.m. EST. I received an e-mail at 9:14 p.m. EST saying my wager had been canceled because the wrong team was favored. Fine by me. No complaints.

Illinois State vs. Evansville (2nd half wager - WSTREET had Evansville - 3.5). I placed a wager on Illinois State + 3.5 for the 2nd half for $200.00 at 9:05 p.m. EST. The bet was not canceled as they sent an e-mail saying they would have to eat this one. Illinois State + 3.5 lost. I lost $220.00. Fine.

Here is my problem. After speaking with the manager tonight, who was VERY rude, he said the reason WHY my Minnesota University bet was canceled was because they caught it before the 2nd half had started, which is NOT correct. He said it's their policy to allow bets to stand if they don't catch them in time. That being said, he went back on his word after I protested and said the Michigan/Minnesota 2nd half game had already started when I received the e-mail saying my wager had been cancelled. He said, well it could have been no more than 1 or 2 minutes gone in the 2nd half, so we did not know the outcome. EXACTLY, my point. The Illinois State 2nd half had already started as well, which that bet lost and my Minnesota U. bet had won, but I am only getting credit for a lost. He then went on to lecture me about "karma" and I am getting exactly as I deserve. Perhaps, but I didn't know a policy could change 180 degrees while I am on the phone with him. You can draw your own conclusions as to whether or not I was trying to take advantage of those 2 games, but remember they were only for $200.00 each and both games HAD started by the time I was notified. The loser was not cancelled, the winner was.

He then proceded to tell me that he didn't know if I was a new player or not, probably not he said, but I am getting exactly what I deserve. He said you shouldn't do this to sportsbooks. I said, well I have at least 5 or 6 different online accounts and I have never had a problem with any of them. He said, well I have about 60 to 70 different accounts and I am going to notify each and everyone of them about you. I said that's fine, you do what you have to do.

Needless to say, my account has been closed. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW I have to accept a MAJORITY of the responsibility here, but I do NOT like the way I was treated, nor do I like the way the situation was handled.

I know I may catch some flack on here, but I have been 100 % honest and truthful about the events that had taken place. While I may or may not have tried to take advantage of the two - 2nd half lines in question, the policy should be the SAME. If you don't catch when the 2nd half starts, either cancel both wagers or allow both to stand. Don't pick and choose and don't lecture me about karma. They basically stole $220.00 from my account. Perhaps I am getting what I deserve, but they need to be FAIR and not change their policy to their advantage.

Waiting to feel the heat ...

I don't believe in karma. I believe their policy should not change, just because they know the outcome of the two games in question.

But what do I know?

Question for you, you claimed that you received the email and noticed that the half in the minny game was approximately 1 or 2 mins in. You claimed that we were lying in that we didn't cancel the wager prior to the start. That is inaccurate, we cancelled the wager, and then drafted an email and it automatically gets sent out to all the customers who wagered on that event.

Email is not instant, it is not unusual for it to take a minute or two for emails sent in a queue to be received.

You also noticed that we only cancelled one wager. Why didn't you call us up then and have both wagers cancelled? Is it possible that you waited to see if the wager we didn't cancel won?

Chalkeater, I meant what I said on the telephone and I don't think I was being rude either. Its one thing to have donbest and to pick off slow moving lines, or to hear that two key players on the Blazers have been traded and to then bet into the overnight line (then middle it with the same book), in the morning. No problem there don't expect to have full limits, but no problem.

Its a whole other thing however to know full well that a line has a reversed favorite and to bet into it. You just got unlucky, had the wager we didn't catch won, or had it been on a higher profile game and been discovered by us. It would have been honored.

I stand by my initial assesment of Karma.

Chalkeater,

You bet the game at 9:02 our time, and the game was cancelled at 9:07 our time. That is according to our server that logs such events.

"But what do I know?"

same thing im wondering if you thought they would welcome an obvious middler and bad line plucker. shouldnt you have made the portland wager at another book? nobody will just stand tyhere and let you take free shots at them like that. AND THEN to top that you play obvious bad lines AFTER you know they are watching you?

you should do a search for posts by "sick gambler". i think he can show you the correct way to handle these type of wagers.

Bet both sides of a game at Wagerstreet? Get a clue and/or get more outs if you want to buy back.

I understand that e-mail is NOT instant. I am well aware of how the internet and e-mail works. However, I did not call you concerning both games, because the 2nd half on both games had already started and I did not check my e-mail until they both were well under way with less than 10 minutes to go in the game. What good would it have done? NONE. You changed your policy. The game had started. We can debate this over and over, but the game had started (Mich/Minn) just like the Ill St/Evan game had started. I think what is "fair" is I lose $20.00 (vig/juice) on the two wagers I made, that way Wagerstreet makes money or both bets should be cancelled.

I don't think what I am asking of you and Wagerstreet is unfair. Also, I don't need a lecture about what I should or shouldn't do to sportsbooks, about karma, and getting what I deserved. You came off as rude and unprofessional when you said you were going to notify the 60 to 70 accounts you have concerning my online behavior.

You have the right to do as you please and to run the book the way you see fit. But I think it should be NOTED that either both wagers should count or both wagers should be cancelled. You have an unfair advantage now, knowing the outcome of both games and I don't that is fair to ANY sports bettor.

Hoping to reach a resolution.

Doubt you'd be complaining if they had cancelled your Ill St wager but allowed your Minny wager.

Also, if you're gonna pull the classic injury/suspension/trade middle, don't do it @ the same book! You're only asking for trouble.

According to your story, Wagerstreet didn't know the outcome of Minny or Ill State when they cancelled your Minny bet (correct?). It just so happened that they cancelled your winning Minny bet, but it could've gone the other way.

Bob,
Off topic, but I have one suggestion. I used to tell you CS guy about every mistake I saw with your lines, but then he started telling me "anything else I can help you with?" Maybe he's French Canuck or a relative of Mikey Myers, but I wish he'd understand that I was helping him, not vice-versa.

Ok, that's it.

Chalkeater,

I was simply trying to enlighten you as to the type of behavior that is and is not likely to endear yourself to the books you deal with. It wasn't a lecture, it was an assertion, I believe in Karma.

I told you that that the way you conducted yourself isn't likely to offer you much in the way of long standing relationships with sportsbooks. You are right though, there is no need to contact any sportsbook, about your proclivity to bet reversed favorites, you will take care of that yourself in do time I am sure.

The resolution is this, you bet two games one was cancelled before the game started, the other wasn't. One game won, One game lost. Your account has been closed and you can receive a payout (free!!!) tomorrow.

Regards

It's still gambling. Nothing is for sure. I did play both sides of the game @ Wagerstreet. I don't see a problem with that. If they don't want a bettor to wager both sides of the game, don't allow the option then. Could I have played somewhere else? Absolutely. In fact, I did, but it's with several locals. But I only used my online account yesterday @ Wagerstreet.

Hell, I'm even offering up a new proposal. Cancel BOTH of my 2nd half wagers (Mich/Minn and ILLST/EVAN) and I will pay juice on both games, a total of $40.00. Now that is what I call being FAIR.

We'll see. The ball's in their court now, just as it has been all night long for them.

Lander,

I think you will find that usually when you are telling someone about a mistake, you also are telling him about HIS mistake. I apologize for the curt behavior but some people don't really like to be notified of their mistakes.

I also think you will find that reversed lines/misposted favorites are few and far between now at our book. Today was a special event, in addition to the 40 odd NCAA BB games and halftimes, we were working on a new way of automating this process and it got a bit glitchy.

I would like to take the time to thank you for all the times that you called in to notify us of bad lines, if you were not thanked then, let me do so now. This is definitely something we appreciate.

Regards

Bob

Thanks Bob.
Honestly, I haven't seen a quarter of the mistakes that I saw early on last year, so somebody's certainly doing a better job with the board

bob s,

Can you tell me if I was the only sports bettor tonight @ Wagerstreet to bet the 2nd half lines on Michigan/Minnesota and Illinois State/Evansville? Are refunds being handed out to the players that bet the wrong favored team?

Just curious.

The resolution is not a resolution. It's Wagerstreet knowing the outcome of the games and not being fair to the customer. You changed your policy in mid-stream while I was on the phone with you and there is no denying that. I just hope other players will take heed of my messages and be careful about who they choose to do business with.

Regards,

I used to email Wagerstreet about line errors. Never even got a "thank you" in return, so I don't bother anymore.

There's something in this thread that concerns me. The original poster claims that Bob threatened to notify 60 to 70 other books about him. If this is true, it bothers me. This implies that a customer's information is not confidential and strikes me as being wrong.

Chalkeater;

You say we cancelled the Minny wager 1 minute into the second half (or 2 at worst) I say we cancelled it before the game started. No matter how you look at it, if we can "know" the outcome of certain events 1 - 2 "real" minutes into a 20 minute (game time) event, then we would be awfully special.

As for your other question, very few customers bet the Evansville game (go figure the premier matchup that it was). A few who bet this game actually got away with it. Sigh can't really win them all.

As for the minnesota game, ALL WAGERS WERE CANCELLED ON BOTH SIDES.
Regards
