Im 59 my wife is 40. We currently reside in MI. She works full time as a manager in medical billing im on disability for neuropathy of the feet. My condition is greatly affected by the cold winters here in MI and we recently decided to make a move to a warmer climate. We have a bankroll of approximately $200,000. The plan is for her to work full time in customer service billing as she does now.
We would most likely rent a one bedroom place for a year before we made the move to purchase something.
I was wondering for those of you here that live in the Las Vegas area to what your experience as been their. What do you see as the positives and negatives.
Thank you in advance.

Take $150,000 and put it in a 1,2 & 3 Year CD, and play with the rest.
This way you will last a little while

It's my dream as well ... But there's no way I could do it. I know myself..
plus too many friends there that would get me into something, and it just might cost me.

It's a nice place to Live, cost of living is so much cheaper. plenty of deals as far as eating. and if you play, easy to get even small food comps
All the positives is the cost of living, the negatives is it's too easy to gamble there :)

Good Luck

She doesn't gamble at all and my gambling is strictly sports betting and some on the horses. Are vices are limited but i will say the legalization of pot their is a plus. The move would be mostly for the warmer weather and she loves all the entertainment and shows that come in to Vegas.

I moved to the Vegas area in 97 from Pa and never looked back.
There is a lot to be said about a warm weather climate. I had
back problems and literally lived in a chiropractors office 3
times a week during the winter months. Since moving here not
once have I had to do so.

Positives...
Cost of living. No State tax. Property taxes ridiculously low.
Every type of entertainment you could want. Everything is open
24/7.

Negatives...
Be prepared to hibernate during the day time hours in the
summer. It gets hot and I mean fucking HOT.

Vegas is not for everyone. I've seen numerous people come here
and with in a year leave. For me it's been a better way of life.

Good luck to you.

You'd be surprised how quickly the casino scene gets old. I love a good steak but not everyday.

Only way I could live there is if I worked at Spearmint Rhino, otherwise I would go broke from that place

So many positives for living here, the weather for one I really like. Yes it gets extremely hot in the summer but I can deal with it for a couple months out of the year. Today it's 70 degrees here, so overall love the weather. It's close to Southern California and the beach so a quick 45 minute plane ride or 4 hour car trip, there's a lot to do no matter your bankroll, another thing I really like is being able to go to a restaurant at 11 o clock at night if I want, there's always something open. I'm only 29 so a lot to do for a guy my age but my parents live here and like it as well. Certain areas are obviously better than others, look into Summerlin. In my opinion Summerlin is by far my favorite place in Vegas.

i'd rather deal with the hot weather than the freezing cold, snow, ice, etc here back east....all the talk about the climate helping people out with medical problems it right on,..everytime i go to vegas i have no issues at all,it all seems like magic, and i have a lot of disabilities that bother me and i suffer most of the time back here.....My wife thought about living out here but now its a done deal as a NO,so that leaves me here and she is a little over 10 years younger than me so she has a while to go before retirement..Maybe when she retires it might be different, but damn my age keeps moving to,...lol

If you can swing it, southern cal is great.

You can can drive to the snow or desert and don't have to live in it.

Is this Brent Musberger checking in?

Hear you Ham. I personally will miss Brent even at 77 years old.
Over the years, heard him broadcast many good football games.

Guess I'm getting older also........................
