Going out there Thursday for a week or so to visit a friend. We're going to a Nats game over the weekend...and I'm sure there is some other stuff planned. Anyone have any "must-do" type stuff for me? :think2:

Too many to list. Just go to the Mall and walk around, you'll find plenty.

I went to the Smithsonian, toured the White House, walked around where Wash Monument is and Abe Lincoln statue. I had a good time, but i was 12. I'm sure it's still cool.

Check out:

Old Town Alexandria

Mt. Vernon

Georgetown

Dupont Circle

Great Falls (good hiking, very cool to see on both sides - VA & MD)

On Friday nights, "jazz in the garden" at the Sculpture Garden is great: http://www.nga.gov/content/ngaweb/c...Number=1&_suid=137036194396508790333136347619

The Marine Corps Silent Drill Team: http://marines.dodlive.mil/2013/04/23/silent-drill-platoon-schedule-2013/

Nats games are great.

Within an hour, hour and a half there are a ton of wineries.

Day trip to Annapolis (tour the Naval Academy)

a friend that moved to DC, pretty sure she spent 4 straight weekend going to the Smithsonian... so if museums are yalls things, easy answer...

not sure if she would be into it, but next on my to do list there is
http://topgolf.com/alexandria/ like a social golf place...basically a range, but all the balls have a trackers in it and theres different games you play, with full service or food and drinks....

If she's from there, you have an advantage, but the biggest thing I tell people visiting, is use metro when possible, parking is a NIGHTMARE there... give yourself plenty of time to get around when you do drive... when I went to March Madness there, I was there 1.5 hours before tip, I got to the game by halftime because I was looking for parking THE ENTIRE TIME... why I hate DC. lol

The Jazz in the Garden is one of my favorite things to do. Every stitch of grass and ground is taken. People bring blankets or chairs, picnic baskets, etc. You can buy beer or sangria. The only question is the weather (rain...or sometimes it gets hotter than shit). Great people watching...and always hot ass there!!

Arlington Cemetery is one of my favorites. I usually go thru the back gate on Ft. Myer (since I am military I can get in that way)...but the front is fine too. You can walk through General Lee's house, check out some cool grave sites (JFK), and see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (really, really cool to watch).

Of course, The Mall is awesome. Lots of kids/tourists in town right now though (the end of the school year trips). They are still working on the Washington Monument, which was damaged in the earthquake 2 years ago.

The DC/Washington Zoo is free and very nice.

The National Cathedral is nice.

Baltimore isn't too far, the Inner Harbor area is fun to go to.

Air Force Memorial is okay...near the Pentagon (where the 911 Memorial is).

She texted me that the plans to this point include a Nats game, biking trip through Great Falls Park (don't know what this is), and Arlington Cemetery. Other than that it's open. I'm definitely going to suggest this as an option:

Calling for rain on Friday....hopefully it will be early and move out. The weather has been great, hopefully the temps stay in the 80's.

Pizza Paradisio in G-town is a cool bar (the basement). Old Glory in G-town is fun (for adults). There's a bunch of younger, college age bars there though (which is fine for looking at young, hot ass!!).

I went 20 years ago for a school trip and the Treasury stood out as being my favorite venue.
