I think both Paterno and Bowden coached until they were a 100 years old just to get that damn win record, whether they admit it or not. Bowden's teams basically did nothing the last 10 years of his career. And if Paterno had gotten out of coaching 15 years ago when he was pushing 70, he would have bypassed all of this Sandusky mess and retired a legend. In fact there is a good chance without Joe Pa there that Sandusky wouldn't even had been allowed on campus.

no doubt these two stayed in way to long to get that record...There is a SMALL part of me that thinks Paterno stayed way to long and his age and being really naive caught up with him when confronted with this Sandusky issue... Not saying that its an excuse, just seemed like a pretty good guy to have something like this happen under his watch
Just wanted to add 2 cents.In the 90s jopa did not like sandusky.He would not shake his hand or when they forced sandusky to retire.Jopa did not go to his retirement dinner.He knew and told people but he is still the scape goat!Why not hang Gov.corbett?He knew back then and did nothing,saying its still under investigation.So more kids got raped.Why not him or thefaculty?They knew.Yea make jopa and the football players be the scapegoats!Yes he should have retired long before but he didnt.The president and the rest should be permanently banned from all schools,they are the guilty ones!
