My Analysis
They will show up tonight and get the W.
The Providence Friars started off the New Year with a BANG!!!!!
On January 3rd they rolled into St.Johns, and as a 14 1/2 point dog, absolutely shocked Rick Pitino and the Red Storm winning outright 77-71.
They then came home and were a 9 1/2 point home dog to the #2 team in the country...the UCONN Huskies.
The Friars jumped out to a 47-37 lead at the half and led by 11 with 2:49 to go but couldn't close the deal as UCONN closed the game with a 14-3 run to force OT.
They would go on to avoid the upset, winning 103-98.
The hangover effect in college basketball is real because since that gut wrenching loss to the Huskies, the Friars haven't recovered since.
They were -1 1/2 and lost at Xavier 97-84 and then back home getting +2 1/2 lost to Villanova 88-82.
Now comes Creighton.
The Blue Jays were riding a 4-game winning streak into the new year when they lost January 4th at Seton Hall 56-54 but did get the money +3 1/2.
As a 4 1/2 point road dog they won at Villanova 76-72 only to come back home and get destroyed by Pitino and St.John's 90-73.
They regrouped at home against Georgetown, where as a 8 1/2 point favorite, had to go to OT for the 86-83 non covering win.
I think this Providence team is better than their record, as evidenced by the St.Johns win and the near miss versus UCONN.
And at home on a Friday night, national TV game, they are without a doubt the right side of this game.

Lang's wording on his site today......Lang has it posted a loss.....I'm a bit confused on this as well. The line moved to -2.5 not -3.5. I believe A push is how it should be graded not a loss. He might just be in "auto pilot" mode and just putting down loss.
And wouldn't you know it, the game ends up falling on 3 and for only the 2nd time the entire year, they fail to cover the number by the hook.
Before Lang released the play there were some -3.5 but him using the -3 line and then it later moving to -2.5 (also noted here on this thread) typical Lang would have taken the win, surprised he didn't take the push and very surprised he took the loss.....

That's when Portland State star forward Terry Miller Jr committed turnover #10 on the night.
Up 3 with 28 seconds to go, Miller committed turnover #11 on the night and at 74-73, missed 2 free throws with 21 seconds to go.
And wouldn't you know it, the game ends up falling on 3 and for only the 2nd time the entire year, they fail to cover the number by the hook.
Now let's be clear here...Not making excuses, just stating the obvious.
The most turnovers Terry Miller Jr had in a game this year was 6 at Colorado.
To have 11 in one game, a home game no less, 2 of those 11 in the last 1:44 and 2 missed FT's with 21 seconds to go????
