Robert Ferringo 3-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 10.0 Washington at New York Mets (7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26)
1-Unit Play. Take #909 Washington (+1.5, -120) over New York Mets (7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26)
Phil Humber has done absolutely nothing in this league to justify being a -180 favorite so we’re going to hit him with the fading stick. The Nationals have owned the Mets over the past week and all the value is squarely on them. Also, neither team can get anyone on the other out and I see more piles of runs today. John Hirschbeck is 9-1-1 against the total in his last eleven games behind home plate with an average of 12.8 runs scored in those contests. I fully intend to get on the ‘over’ tomorrow as well, so look for that play too.
3-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 10.0 New York Yankees at Tampa Bay (7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26)
Brian Gorman’s tight zone is going to get J.P. Howell into a lot of trouble today. Howell has an ERA of 6.80 on the season, 11-57 in his last three starts, and 11.01 at night. The ‘over’ is 13-3-2 in the last 18 meetings and 7-0-2 in the last nine meetings in Tampa Bay. Further, the ‘over’ is 42-18-3 in the Yankees’ last 63 on turf and is 20-9-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 32 games as an underdog of +200 or higher. Bombs away.
2-Unit Play. Take #903 Atlanta (-130) over Philadelphia (7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26)
Tim Hudson is throwing in a big spot here and I trust him more than Kyle Lohse. The Braves have been on fire lately and after they were able to stun the Phils in the opener last night I think they’re going to really turn up the heat tonight. Atlanta is 6-2 in Philadelphia and Kyle Lohse has gotten worked for 12 runs in his last 13 innings.
1-Unit Play. Take #924 Detroit (+125) over Minnesota (7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26)
Johan Santana is just 1-4 in his last five starts and is just 1-4 against the Tigers this season. Santana has an ERA of 6.00 in his last two starts and is facing a team that just devastates left-handed pitching. The Twins have had a hard time putting runs on the board and they are simply playing out the string. The Tigers have more to play for and they will earn the underdog victory today.
That's it for today. Good luck.
