the entire craft industry seems to be going ipa. a lot of them are way overdone. not sure why people are obsessed with a beer so bitter you can barely drink it.

Have you tried Tripel Karmeliet? It's an abbey tripel out of Belgium. My favorite, by far.

I guess the bitterness in the ipa's is an acquired taste. I also love beer that is 9-10 %
Alcohol.

Sun King Batch 333 : Velvet Fog.

Actually like most of their beers I have tried. Locally I like Sweetwater and Thomas Creek Up the Creek Extreme.

Lots of Presidente flowing at the WBC in Miami....

Dominican Beer with over 7% alcohol....

Had a lot of Presidente in the Dominican once....definately don't recall the alcohol being that high. But it was on a honeymoon so it's all a blur now.

the current abita strawberry seasonal is fantastic

The last time I was living in the states, I had a liking for Turbo Dog. A buddy and I would visit the Abita Springs microbrewery at least once every two weeks. I don't like fruity beer too much, so I could never get Purple Haze, but their season Flor de Lis wasn't too shabby either.

IPA's are very popular and not sure why. They're just okay and alot of other local brews or regionals that I've tried are at least as good if not better. Bitter beer kind of knocks out the true flavor imo. Give me a nice clean pilsner or a wheat beer with body anyday over IPA whatever.

I have tried quite a few microbrews...must be an acquired taste. I'll just take a New Castle please.

Newcastle is one of my favorite beers. It's not exceptionally dissimilar from some micro brews imo.
I was surprised to see they were offered for free at Reno casinos. I'm used to Heiny being the "premium" free beer at the Shreveport casino lot.

Agreed. I'm a big Belgian fan and can't stand any iPa's. Funny because people that live iPa's hate Belgians and vice versa..
