The Allman Brothers

Funniest performance under the influence i ever saw ... Allman Bros at an ampitheatre in Pelham Alabama , Greg Allman comes on stage and says "good evening Greenville South Carolina it's great to be back in the Magnolia state"

(1) he was in Alabama not South Carolina.

(2) South Carolina isnt the magnolia state , that's Mississippi.

... and you'd think an ol boy from Georgia would know the south. ... great show though.

Nobody seems to be following your directions.......

I love this quetion for no other reason than the arguing that insues.....

My opinion is this.... if you are a true rock n' roll fan, there is no way on earth to limit your FAVORITES to 10 bands....No matter how hard you try...

Unless you are one of those BOOB's that say THE DEAD or THE BEATLES... no one else matters.... STOP JUST STOP...... U EMBARR-ASS YOUR SELF.....

I like most of the bands from the original list. But you have to include the E-Street band or the list isn't legit. I think you have to put the Beatles first on any list because of the impact they made on pop culture as well as music in the 6 or so years they made records together.

1.The Beatles
2.The Rolling Uglies
3.Led Zeppelin
4.The Who
5.The Doors
6.Creedence Clearwater
7.Pink Floyd
8.Buffalo Springfield (A Supergroup that started the folk/country rock movement like The Byrds, CSN&Y, Eagles, Poco etc.)
9.The Allman Brothers (Made the best live music of my generation)
10.Springsteen & E-Street band

AIC is definitely in my top 3 although I wished they would have done more heavy songs like from facelift before Layne died.

15 Top Rock Bands

classic_rock_7.jpg

When you look back over the years you can clearly see many of those that would be considered the top Classic rock bands of all time. With that said, this list was compiled using a combination of radio airplay, album sales, touring history, and to a certain extent how popular they have continued to be over the years.

When it comes to longevity, popularity, and truly great artists we bring to the list the Rolling Stones. This band has truly lasted the test of time and is still popular, and they are still playing shows.
  5. Led Zeppelin

This is one of the Classic rock bands that were considered the pioneers of the psychedelic rock era as well as at the forefront of the counter culture that was found in the 60´s and 70´s.
  9. The Doors

Although these artists did not enjoy notoriety for long as a full band due to their lead singers´ death, they have become one of rock’s most popular groups in history.
  10. Moody Blues
    Album: Days of Future Passed
This is another band who’s songs you can most likely hear live to this day. Except for a few brief years in the mid 70´s, this band has recorded and toured since 1964.
  11. Fleetwood Mac
    Album: Rumours
This group is extremely popular even to this day and their Rumours album is one of the top ten best sellers ever.

These artists were considered as having the highest grossing debut album in all time when they first released Boston in 1976.
  14. Cream
    Album: Wheels Of Fire
Although this group did not last longer than three years, they had already taken the lead as one of rocks first power trios.
  15. Def Leppard

This group is well known for their instrumentation and vocals and they have remained at the top for almost 25 years.
FYI...taken from another site but in regards to albums this is what I would choose

AIC is not and should never be considered Classic Rock....JMO

Luv AIC and Nirvana and STP but that music is post-Classic IMO

Yeah I hear you, the sap ep and the three legged dog album are good but not as freaky as the first two... the shit they are pulling off now with the new singer, is not bad at all but it shouldnt be named AIC as well.
