Thursday:

Cincinnati -7' -100 (vs Jax)

Time for Cincy to showcase their stuff in a spotlight game. Last season on 12/21 when they got their only spotlight game of the year on Monday night they beat Pittsburgh outright 27-17 as 14 point big dogs. Expect Jacksonville to be calling PETA tonight to step in and stop the Bengal from bloodying the Jaguar.

Saints finally get to the Dome for their home opener. Only Saints loss was to 3-0 Carolina sandwiched around solid wins over the Pack and the Pats. Should roll.

Philly +6' +103 (vs KCy)
The Cheese Steak running backs ran 3 times for a total of 29 yards last week. Anybody see anything wrong with that stat? I see two things. Get some balance back in their offense and they will have a chance to beat the most overrated (pointspread wise) in the NFL. Chiefs are now 0-10-1 ATS in their last 11 regular season games.

Houston +17' -105 (@ Buff)
Love the Buffs. I think they are the best team in the NFL. But Houston ain't as bad as we all think they are. Any look ahead by Buff to Kansas City next week and the Texans are right inthis game.

Cleveland -1 -102 (@ Minny)
THe Brownies are by far the best team here. Should score at will while Cousins dodges their pass rush all day.

Indy +2' -101 (@ Mia)
Two struggling teams. I'll take the better running team.

Chicago -3 -102 (vs Det)
The Bears had a net total of 47 friggin' yards last week. You read that right. They will bounce off that historic embarrassment.

Arizona +4' -106 (@ LA Ram)
Rams may have spent too much time on the throne after knocking off the World Champion Bucs last week. The Cardinals catch them gloating.

Green Bay -6 -109 (vs Pitt)
Pitt can't run the ball. (averaging 60 yds per game) That makes Big Ben a sitting duck. Pack rolls.

One team was embarrassed last week 0-40. The other is coming off a moral victory loss (17-19) to the world champ, Bucs.

NEn / Hou Under 39 -105
The Pats offensive line is a mess. Sustained drives won't happen. And the Patriot D is the strength of their team going against a weak Texan offense.

I did a study of teams who don't run for at least 80 yards in a game. And of teams who hold their opponents to under 80 yards in a game.

Teams who don't rush for 80 yds:

RD 5-9 ATS
RF 0-3 ATS
HD 2-3 ATS
HF 0-9 Ats
Total 7-24 ATS

Teams who hold their opponents to under 80 yds rushing:

RD 10-1 ATS
RF 4-3 ATS
HD 6-0 ATS
HF 10-6 ATS
Total 30-10 ATS

My best judgement says that the following teams qualify this week:

TBy -11 -110 (vs Mia)
Jax +4' -105 (vs Tenny)
Denv -1 -105 (@ Pit)
Chi +5' -103 (@ LVR)
Clev +2' -100 (@ LA Ch)
Buf +2' +107 (@ KCy)

Think that's it.

Last year Indy was the only team who prevented Lamar Jackson from throwing a TD pass in a game. And they stifled his running. 13 carries for 58 yards. Truth is they statistically completely outplayed the Ravens, but let the game slip away in the fourth quarter. I think they remember that game tonight as they desperately try to rescue a 1-3 season opening.

It's time for Jalen Hurts to showcase his arm. If he can't throw into this Tampa secondary it's time for Philly to be thinking about next year's draft.
