Mets manager Terry Collins is not enthralled that the "neighborhood play" at second base is now reviewable to see if a fielder actually touched the bag. "We're making a slide rule that keeps you on the bag," Collins said. "You've got to be near the bag. And now we're making a decision on the neighborhood play that you've got to stay on the bag. You know what that's going to mean? Someone is going to get their clocks cleaned."

Giants RHP Matt Cain had a procedure to remove a cyst from his upper right arm, Giants GM Bobby Evans announced today. Cain is expected to resume throwing in approximately 10 days. Cain also had eye surgery during the offseason.

One positive takeaway from spring training from Tigers manager Brad Ausmus' point of view? Matt Boyd's revamped slider. He feels that could turn into a very effective pitch for he young lefty. Boyd has worked on forming it up from last season, can't wait to see it in action next week: " I'm excited to toe it up against someone in a different uniform."
