the $ 5,000 fine is a joke, no deterrence what so ever except maybe for a few players that don't see the court anyhow

should it be enforced during the game? something like 1st flop a T? 2nd flop and ejection? (it may be hard to enforce such during the game)

how about enforcing it after the game? some lifetime or season rule
1st) 50k fine or 1 game suspension
2nd) 3 game suspension
3rd) 5 game suspension
4th) 10 game suspension

you have to take serious measures to eliminate the cheating and restore integrity

but before you take these measures, you have to define what constitutes a clear flop and you have to be able to identify it without dispute, so it can't happen in game

anyhow, haven't given it much thought save for the last 10 minutes, just looking for what other people think

Dook fans' opinions don't count :)

Its simple to find the flops when they are so rampant now days.

Everytime a foul is called where a players seemed to have taken an excessive foul (which is how floppers exaggerate) Mark down what time it happened. Someone upstairs who does the reviews and instant replay can automatically relay to the referee table of a flagrant flop.

Just like the military, you cant punish an individual. You punish the team, since flopping doesn't help the flopper, it helps his whole team.

First flop for a player is a T , if the same player flops again that game automatic ejection

Simple and easy... if a player is ejected in 2 consecutive games, then game suspensions begin.

Fines wont work, cause they are only hitting the individual. As soon as you start hitting the team, they will slow down or stop.

I agree with the idea of reviewing it and giving a T.

Next flop on team results in an ejection.

Simple way to end flopping.......go back to 90's and prior years reffing style. You come down the lane, you might get hacked. Refs are the ones ruining the game by allowing this to happen (although they are probably just taking orders) players just playing within the "rules" and have the mentality of "do anything to win" so they dont see flopping as a big deal. Most of the time they get the call and their flop paid off for them. As "cheap" as a move it is to flop I dont ever expect the players to change

I say just T them up, similar to the delay of game in hockey. You lose the ball and give up shots, people would adjust quickly then if enough T's they'd miss time.

Hard to restore integrity when the people running the league completely lack integrity.

Don't disagree. May not totally lack integrity..... But have allowed the game to morph into something entirely different than basketball. After Iverson invented the "continuous carry" or the "continual palming" it has been downhill all the way.

Also I THINK YOU ARE FORGETTING……. King Flop happens to be King James and they are not going to do shit to slow his roll. He is Michael Jordan in the league’s fertile imagination. (JOKE)

Correct on all the above.

NHL at least they call a penalty for embellishment....NBA there has to be a foul called and then a Technical if the player does it again

what if that flop causes a player to get the foul and then taken out of the game. what if the guy hits two free throws that alter the course of the game ( 1pt game )

a fine doesnt do anything...have to take it to the next level

Review the flops and the player has to sit out for 10 minutes of game time?

Amen Slap.... but that will never happen because what you describe has become known as "ball handling". Would lower the scoring, and we can't have that!

Dwyane Wade's flop in the last game against the Spurs. What a fucking pussy.

You never see old school guys like Bird, Jordan, Magic pulling that shit.

Then pussy Wade lies about it in the media. What a scumbag.

Fines are a joke in any sport. Just call a personal foul for flopping. Guys care more about missing time than they do a fine. In addition, do away with guaranteed contracts. The NFL has the right model. A player misses a couple game checks and it is funny how their behavior is modified. Fining a 28 year old that has 19 million in their bank account 4K is pointless. His interest on his $$ is more than the fine.
